The Big Surprise in the Magnet Tavern Team selection was the Non appearance of former Leicester and Aston Villa striker Julian Joachim. Magnet Tavern manager John Chand "It would be strange for him if he makes The Final, especially as Julian has played at Wembley for Villa.
But I have to pick a team from a squad of players, and Julian is one of the players in contention," claimed Chand.Joachim, who Aston Villa signed in a £1.6 million deal in 1996, has over 100 League goals to his name and Scored Two Goals for the Tavern in the 3-1 quarter-final win over Lebeq Tavern Courage. Both Sides Took the Field at 1-50 pm it was slightly overcast but very warm the Annfield pa System blasting out Music to keep the Crowd happy, The Fans from Both Sides were sitting in the Famous Kop end, both Giving the Teams a Noisy welcome on the Field. The Teams lined up in front of the Main stand and were introduce to Mr Peter Clayton The Chairman of the FA Sunday Cup Committee.The Game Started with Hetton Kicking towards the Famous Kop end. Hetton were quickly into the Game, Ruddy breaking down the Left wing, the cross brought a save out of the Magnet Keeper Murray. The Hetton Supporters in the Kop End exploded into Life in the 4th Min Gavin Cogdon was fed the ball on the right wing from a Throw Inn he ran along the Bye Line evading a Tackle from Magnet defender Coulson and somehow fired the Ball between Magnet Keeper Murray and the Post to put Hetton 1-0 Up. Magnet restarted the Game looking to level the scores, they put the Hetton Defence under pressure Sozzo forcing Hetton

Keeper Finch to make a Great save, but in the 9th Minute the scores were level at 1-1 with the Tavern Supporters now celebrating in the Kop end Westley Lewis Cut Inside found Ashley Fuller unmarked he gets to the Hetton Bye line pulls the Ball back into the crowed Box for Josh Sozzo to fire past Hetton Keeper Finch. The scores level at 1-1 with only 10 Mins on the clock. The Game wide open as both sides look to take the lead. On 20 Mins the Magnet Keeper Murray make a Great save from Hetton Forward Cogdon, minutes later Hetton Forward Peacock hit the Bottom of the Post .The game flowed form end to end with Magnet Forward Fuller should have done better on 28 mins as his toe poke was wide of the Hetton post.The Hetton Supporters in Full Voice as Hetton went Close in the 35 Min Cogdons Fierce Volley flies into the side Netting. 5 Mins later Ruddy fires wide from 30 Yards .Hetton were not having it all their way as Magnet Forward Hunter fires from 20 Yds Hetton keeper luckily pushes the effort against the post and safely collects the rebound. The First Change

of the game on 43 Mins sees Magnet Forward Sozzo replaced by Chris Johnson , Sozzo feeling an earlier Injury and unable to continue. The Referee Mr Deadman blows the whistle to bring to an end a very exciting First Half of Football ending at 1-1.Hetton Start the Second Half on fire within 2 Mins Both Ruddy and Cogdon force the Magnet Keeper to make very good saves, Hetton Manager Bradley Groves changed to formation for the second Half with Peacock playing a Lot further forward. On 50 Minutes Peacock latches on to an excellent through ball from Cogdon, but Magnet Keeper Murray makes a Point Blank save.Hettons Pressure paid of in the 55 min corner from the right by Capper found Rea , man-of-the-match Rae kept his cool to fire Hetton into the Lead. Magnet Hit back Goodhands Shot is Blocked By Hetton Keeper Finch on 57 Mins.On 59 Minutes Hetton Go further Ahead Cogdon fires at Magnet Keeper Murray who parries the ball into the path of the oncoming Rae who fires the ball into the net to make it 3-1 to Hetton. Magnet make a substitution in the 63 rd Min when Ashley Fuller was replaced By Matt Kennedy, Hetton Forward Curls the Ball over the Magnet Cross bar on 70 Mins with magnet Keeper Murray well beaten. Magnet looked to pull a goal back 3mins later Goodhand fires from inside the Box hits a Hetton defender Massive appeals for Handball but Referee Deadman waves play on.Hetton were now on top and had a Great chance in the 72min Rae received a Pass from Peacock but Fired wide. Magnet Use their last Substitute when Lovas was Carried from the Field injured, Luigi Rocco the replacement.Hetton also make their first change when Man Of the match Rae was replaced By Chris Lawther and Calvin Smith replaced the hard working Ruddy. Magnet were reduced to 10 Men when a Stretcher was called for Brown as Magnet had used all their Substitutes they were to play the game out with 10 Men.Hetton started to play Possession football to run the clock down, they made another substitution in the 84 Min Cogdon was replaced by Warren Byrne, Hetton were given a shock the battling 10 men gained a Corner on 89 Mins the ball was punched out to full back Mark Coulson who fired an unstoppable Volley from some 20 Yds into the Top Corner Magnet wiould not Give Up , now 3-2 to Hetton the Fourth Official Holds Up the Board to show 4 Mins of added time, Magnet Pushed forward looking to level the scores, from a Magnet Free Kick the ball was cleared Sub Chris Lawther breaks away and a one on one with the Magnet Keeper Fires the ball into the Bottom of the Net to make it 4-2 to Hetton.Minutes later the Ref Blew for Time, the Hetton Supporters in the Kop end who had sung their hearts out during the game were dancing and singing.Hetton were presented with the Trophy by Mr Peter Clayton Hetton’s third Football Association Sunday Cup Final triumph, this shows of their formidable pedigree in the competition in recent years. They were winners of the competition in 2006 and 2008, while last year they were knocked out by Scots Grey, the eventual winners. The premier Sunday Cup competition the Final gave the players the chance to emulate some of the world’s most famous names who have played at Anfield.The Hetton Supporters some 500 sang their Hearts out throughout the Game, the songs carrying around Annfield, the Hetton players once Given the Trophy stood in front of the Kop to show their magnificent Support the FA Sunday Cup Trophy..

At the moment, we have had a superb season, playing well in the Durham Sunday Football League our competitions again without any defeats’’. Groves added” The FA Sunday Cup is the most prestigious cup to compete for in Sunday football and a real challenge for any team in England to win. A final venue at Liverpool’s Anfield, with all of its history, is a huge draw for any club or player to strive for and it is a tribute to our players and management team for all of their endeavours for us to reach The Final for the third time in five years."
Hetton Lyons skipper Leon Ryan is looking to make history this weekend in the first part of a unique double this season. The Durham Sunday Football League outfit are aiming to become the first team to win The FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup for the third time at Anfield and Ryan is the only player remaining from all three campaigns. But it doesn’t end there for the former Durham City man. For the second season running, he’s also preparing for his club duties on a Saturday, as his Whitley Bay team are readying themselves for a defence of their FA Carlsberg Vase crown. Ryan was part of the Bay side that lifted The Vase a year ago, and at Wembley in a fortnight he’s set to lead the Northern League club out under the Arch against Wroxham. But before that, he’s focused on Hetton Lyons as they face Magnet Tavern at the home of Liverpool FC. “I’ve played in two Sunday Cup Finals before, but this one will be extra-special as I’ll be captain,” said Ryan. “I’m really looking forward to it; this will hopefully be a great weekend for the club.” The Skill training Northern League champions Spennymoor Town providing many of the players for the Successful Lyons with three from Shildon and Ryan from Whitley Bay. After success in The FA Sunday Cup in 2006 and 2008, the club now know they will become record winners if they can get the better of Magnet, and may also decide to call time on their club. “This could potentially be our last year, we want to go out on a high and be the only team to have won The Sunday Cup three times,” revealed Ryan. “I’m the only one remaining from the previous two Cup wins so it would be great to be the only person to win The Sunday Cup three times.” And though he tries to keep his Whitley Bay allegiances out of his Sunday football, Ryan can’t avoid his Saturday League rivals. Whitley Bay can potentially finish second in their league, but won’t be able to overhaul Spennymoor. “Our manager’s made it his ambition to be the only side out in the front with three wins, and if we can do that, I’m sure it’ll be a good time to call it a day.”

Magnet Tavern manager John Chand is hoping his side can tame favourites Hetton Lyons The Final could see the star in Tavern's ranks - former Leicester and Aston Villa striker Julian Joachim - make a surprise return to Anfield for the Boston club. Almost ten years after narrowly missing out on FA Cup glory in Villa's 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the 2000 Final, Joachim could lift the Sunday Cup, if his side can overcome two-time winners Hetton Lyons.

But despite his Premier League pedigree, Magnet boss Chand has warned that, although it would be an intriguing prospect were he to make an appearance, not even Joachim is assured of a starting place on Sunday. "It would be strange for him if he makes The Final, especially as Julian has played at Wembley for Villa. But I have to pick a team from a squad of players, and Julian is one of the players in contention," claimed Chand. Joachim, who Villa signed in a £1.6 million deal in 1996, has over 100 League goals to his name and bagged a brace in the 3-1 quarter-final win over Lebeq Tavern Courage. And it will be goals that Chand will need if his side are to prevent the Lyons from lifting a record-breaking third trophy in five years."From what we know and from what we have seen of Hetton Lyons, coming out and defending for 90 minutes is just not going to happen. The tone was set for an end-to-end game with three goals inside the first ten minutes. Gavin Cogden put Hetton ahead before Josh Sozo equalised for Magnet. Rae then struck and then added another after the break to give his side a two-goal lead but Mark Coulson pulled a goal back for Magnet with a stunning strike in the 89th minute. As Magnet pushed for an unlikely equaliser, Chris Lowther sealed an historic victory for Bradley Groves’ side.

Hetton’s unprecedented third Sunday Cup Final triumph adds to their formidable pedigree in the competition in recent years. They won the competition in 2006 and 2008, while last year they were knocked out by Scots Grey, the eventual winners. The premier competition in Sunday football, this year’s Final gave the players the chance to emulate some of the world’s most famous names who have played at Anfield.The game certainly started at an electric pace as the 22 players buzzed around the pitch with adrenaline and snapped into tackles. The flow of the game was also aided by the attacking attitude of both sides, with Magnet winger Ashley Fuller a constant threat to the tournament favourites.Magnet were determined to end Hetton’s bid for history, but that always looked a difficult task after Cogden’s goal within moments of the opening whistle. However, Sozo responded almost immediately and by the end of a crazy first ten minutes, Hetton had taken the lead through Rae’s first of the afternoon. The match barely settled after a frantic opening but spectators were made to wait until after half-time for the next goal, when man-of-the-match Rae kept his cool to score his second and Hetton’s third. Magnet were dealt a blow when Fuller was withdrawn early in the second-half due to injury, and their luck turned for the worse as they were forced to play the closing minutes with ten men due to injuries and the use of all three of their substitutions.~ Yet they would not give up, and Couldon struck a rocket into the top corner with his left foot just a minute from time to give Magnet hope.As they committed men forward, Hetton broke and Chris Lowther neatly tucked away the clinching goal to ease Hetton nerves and ensure their day in history

The Swinburn Maddison Durham Sunday Football League Held its Annual Presentation Dinner in the Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club on Sunday 6th June, entertainment was provided by Guest Speaker former Arsenal, Middlesboro, Aston Villa and England Player Paul Merson.

League Vice Chairman Peter Playle welcomes Paul Merson.

The Evening started with a Fine Four Course Meal, and then the 200+ crowd were entertained by some really funny stories associated with Football and Guest Speaker Paul Merson, Paul speaking and keeping everyone entertained for over an Hour. I must say having organised the League Presentation Dinner for over 25 Years this was by far the Best After Dinner Speaker I have seen, the League has some big names as Guest Speakers But None were as Good as Paul Merson.
Their was a Break were Paul Merson signed Autographs and many of the assembled had their Photos Taken with Paul .The Guest Speaker then Left as he had a Long Drive back to London.
The Presentation of awards then Took Place.

The League President Stepy Johnston then made two awards to Hetton Lyons Cricket Club, the First an outstanding achievement award to Hetton for winning the FA Sunday Cup for the Third Time and the Durham County Football Association Sunday Cup for the Sixth Time. Then For Team of the Season.

The League Fixture Secretary Chris Tindale presented the Divisional Officials award this is an award that each Club In each Division nominates a Club Official who they think deserve the award.

To all Clubs Durham County Football Association Player Insurance Scheme
The Durham County Football Association are Bringing in an Insurance scheme County wide for all senior players.
This new scheme Costs a Player £5-00 for the First Club he registers for in the County, any Further Clubs he registers for will be the Normal Registration fee for that League.
This Is a Durham County Football association Rule so there is No opt out, If you have Player/Club Insurance from any one other that the League Then this needs to be cancelled, as the Players who play will have paid their own Insurance.

Break down the League Insurance was £160-00 Per Club.
Clubs with 18 Players Signed On Meant it was £8.90 per Player
Clubs with 20 Players Signed On Meant it was £8.00 per Player
Clubs with 22 Players Signed On Meant it was £7.30 per Player
Clubs with 24 Players Signed On Meant it was £6.70 per Player
Clubs with 26 Players Signed On Meant it was £6.20 per Player
Clubs with 28 Players Signed On Meant it was £5.71 per Player
Club with 30 Players signed on Meant it was £5.33 per Player
Club with 40 Players Signed on Meant It was £4.00 per Player

So It Breaks down that 90% of the Clubs in the League with the DFA Insurance it will be Cheaper.

The Procedure Is Clubs send the £5-00 payment along with the £3-00 Registration Fee to the League that is £8-00 in Total, then the League will forward details to the DFA who will Issue the Player with a Credit Sized Card to say he Has Insurance.
So if any Player comes along to sign for your Club and He has an Insurance Card then he only pays for the Registration Fee of £3-00, but if he does not have the Card then he pays the Full Fee Of £8-00.

I Know Clubs will Not like This, But It is a DFA Rule so No Opt out and also think of the extra work for the League.

Annual General Meting
Please Note that if it is not on the Agenda then it will not be discussed.
(i) To receive and confirm the Minutes of the preceding Annual General Meeting. (ii) To consider any business arising they’re from. (iii) To receive and adopt the Annual Report, Balance Sheet and Statement of Accounts. (iv) Election of Clubs to fill vacancies (as recommended by the Management Committee). (v) Receive Constitution of the Competition for ensuing season. (vi) Election of Officers and Management Committee. (vii) Appointments of Auditors and Solicitor. (viii) Alteration of Rules, if any (of which notice has been given). (ix) Fix the date for the commencement and conclusion of the playing season.
Each Full Member Club shall be empowered to send two delegates to an Annual General Meeting. Each Club shall be entitled to one vote only. Not less than 14 days’ notice shall be given of any Meeting.
All voting shall be conducted by a show of voting cards unless a ballot is demanded by at least 15 of the delegates qualified to vote or the Chairman so decides.
No individual shall be entitled to vote on behalf of more than one Full Member Club.
Any continuing Member Club failing to be represented at the Annual General Meeting without satisfactory reason being given shall be fined a Minimum of £15.00, subject to the League’s Management Committee that Club could be removed from the League.
Officers and Management Committee members shall be entitled to attend and vote at an Annual General Meeting.

Registration Forms.
As per League Rules
Each New Players Registration forms shall be obtained from the League Secretary or Downloaded from the League web site, returned to the League Secretary with the £3-00 Fee to Register the Player in the League (a fully and correctly completed Competition Registration form in ink). Failure to comply with the above will incur a fine not exceeding £5 per player. No player to be registered or Transfer after 31st March each Season.
The Fee for the Registration of a Player in the League to be set by the League’s Management Committee.
All registration forms must be accompanied by a registration fee. Any person found guilty of signing a Registration Form on behalf of a player shall be liable, at the discretion of the Management Committee, to suspension from any activities with the League. A list of each Clubs registered players is available upon request to the League Registrations Secretary. The Retained List and new Registrations in the League Combined each Player will cost £3.00 per player

Players in the League Can Be Signed On from the 1st July and the League will accept players Registrations from that Date,
A Point to Note that is in a Pre season Friendly if a Player plays for you without signing a Registration Form and he does not have an Insurance Card then he will not be covered by any DFA Insurance Scheme.
The Retained Lists should be avaible for the Leagues agm.

Transfers
As per League Rules
Subject to The Football Association Rules dealing with players without a written contract when a player desires a transfer, the Club the player wishes to transfer to shall submit a transfer form to the League Secretary accompanied by a New Registration Form. The Duly Completed Forms to be sent to the League Secretary along with a Stamped Addressed Envelope for the Confirmation Return. Match Day Transfers for League Games only will be allowed; transfer forms are avaible from the League Secretary or Downloaded from the League website

First Transfer
A fee of £5.00(Plus Registration fee £3-00) No player to be Transferred after 31st March each Season. The Fee for the Transfer form to be set by the League’s Management Committee.
Second Transfer
A player requiring a second transfer during the same season the fee will be £10-00 (plus registration Fee £3-00).
Third Transfer
A Third Transfer will be at the League Management Committees discretion and if allowed a Fee 0f £20-00 will be charged (plus registration Fee £3-00.) Third Transfer, A player who transfers from a club to another for a third time in any one season must give written reasons to the League Management Committee and will not be allowed to transfer until sanction is given
No Transfers allowed until 6 weeks after the season has started. So this Makes week commencing October 3rd before any One can Transfer In the League.

Pre Season Friendlies
Just a Reminder to all Clubs for pre season friendlies, You Must advise The Durham Football Association of the Game and were it is being played and the Match Referee, this is for the Public Liability Insurance.

Matches Outside The Jurisdiction Of The League Any Team wishing to participate in any outside the jurisdiction of this League should notify the League competition Fixture Secretary prior to the start of the playing season. This Includes The Durham County Sunday Cup, The Heart Foundation Cup and Any other Cups.

The Fairplay League
The Money from the Fairplay will be distributed in Match Balls ECT to Clubs in the League who have the Better Records, The Management Committee will decide
decide on this.

The League will Start The On Line Team Sheets Next Season , Clubs Need to appoint a Member who will be responsible for Updating this after every Game, This will be someone who has also an e-mail address., they will be responsible for Updating their Clubs online records. The Same Rules apply as per Current Team Sheet were the Online Team sheet has to be Completed Within 72 Hours of the date played, the result of each Competition match in the prescribed manner. Each Club must then Fully Completed the Online Form for each game played to be updated no later than 72 Hours after the game took place.
The Online Team Sheet to include Their Sides Team, Referee’s Mark, Goals corers and any Dismissals or Cautions administered during the Game and Man of the Match.

The Match Result and the Referee’s Mark for each game played to arrive no later than 72 Hours after the game took place to the Fixture Secretary to be sent on the online form to be available from the Downloads section of the web site... Clubs failing to Comply with this will be fined £5-00.

This will decrease the Secretaries work Load and make The Job a Lot easier, you will still exchange Team sheets with the Opposing Side before the Kick Off, and then Transfer to the Leagues on Line Form.
If You sign a Player on the Line for a League Game Then you Text the Name Of the Player, Date Of Birth and Club to so that the Players details can be added to the site Straight away, then the Registration Form is Posted to the League Secretary to be Received within 72 Hours of the date played (with the Correct Monies)

So On a Match Day League Game...
Fill in the Pre carbonated Team Sheets, exchange with the Other Team, Give the Referee his Copy and Keep Copy for yourself.

If you have signed a Player on the Line then Text the Number with Club Name, Date Of Birth. And Players Name.

After the Game Enter the On-Line Team sheet as per Team sheet from the Morning and If You have signed a Player on the Line Then send the Registration Form to the League Secretary, whilst On Line complete the Fixture Secretaries Form with the Date Of the Game Division, Two Clubs and Referees Mark., If the Referees Mark Is Below the Required Mark Then add the Reasons Why.

So On a Match Day Cup Game...
Fill in the Pre carbonated Team Sheets, exchange with the Other Team, Give the Referee his Copy and Keep Copy for yourself.

All Players In this Game must have been signed 5 Days before the Game No Players are allowed to register on the Day.

After the Game Enter the On-Line Team sheet as per Team sheet from the Morning .Then send the Registration Form to the League Secretary, whilst On Line complete the Fixture Secretaries Form with the Date Of the Game Division, Two Clubs and Referees Mark., If the Referees Mark Is Below the Required Mark Then add the Reasons Why.

This Makes Life very Easy for the Club Secretary.
