The Swinburn Maddison Durham Sunday Football
League after Consultation with Hetton Lyons
Cricket Club, have removed Hetton Lyons Cricket Club
from the League Cup sponsored By Spennymoor Town and
the Alan Smith Trophy Sponsored By Castle Insurance
Ltd. The reason behind this was that the Two
Cups above were a Long way behind in the Fixtures due
to the very bad weather we have experienced this
Season, Hetton Lyons Cricket having suffered
more than Most Due to the Football Association Sunday
Cup and the Durham County Football Association
taking preference each Sunday, this means that when a
Game in either of these Competitions were cancelled
they have to be played the Following week until
completed, this created a Major Fixture problem for
Hetton Lyons Cricket Club as they have been
very successful in both the Cup Competitions
this did not allow them to Premier League Games
and League Cup Competitions .
Both the Alan Smith Trophy and League Cup need to be completed before the end of the Season and removing Hetton Lyons Cricket Club from these Cups will hopefully allow the Completion of Both Trophies. As per Durham Sunday Football League Rules Hetton Lyons Cricket Club will be fined for Not Fulfilling their Fixtures.
As I have already mentioned Hetton Lyons Cricket Club are in the Final of the Football Association Cup to be played at Anfield the Home of Liverpool Fc on Sunday 25th April against Magnet Tavern Fc, Hopefully by removing Hetton Lyons Cricket Club from these Cups this will help Hetton Lyons Cricket Club Prepare for this Final.
The Best wishes of the League Management Committee and all the Clubs/Referees in the League go with Hetton Lyons Cricket Club to be successful on the day and bring the Trophy back to the North East.

Manager Bradley Groves, whose squad still contains a number of players from the previous two victories, is now hoping that their experience can count when they come face-to-face with Boston-based Magnet."It's a major thing for any amateur footballer to go and play at Anfield,” Groves told TheFA.com after their 2-1 win."We know that whoever we play, it's going to be tough and that will be the case against Magnet Tavern.”The Lyons showed their character on Sunday too, after coming from behind to win the game at Sutton United.’’Now, preparations will begin for Hetton’s latest jaunt to Merseyside and what Groves admits is their main ambition for the season"It's the third time we've been there in five years, so it's an incredible achievement,” he added.“It'll be a great day and the best team will win on the day but it's a massive thing for us, and it's what we set our season on."It's a major occasion for the the Lyons Cricket Club”
Elswere in the League ,In the quarter final of the Spennymoor Town Fc sponsored league cup, Kelloe WMC FC ran out easy 5 - 1 winners against premier rivals Ferryhill MC FC in a very much one sided game. Kelloe quickly moved into a 2 goal lead with strikes from Staurat Thompson and Neil Charlton. After missing numerous chances, Ferryhil broke and came back into the game with a great volley from outside the box. Kelloe then went up the other end and made it 3 - 1 with a goal from Gavin Barton. In the second half Kelloe dominated possession and again missed some guilt edge chances before Gavin Barton grabbed his second and substitute Stephen Carruthers added a fifth to make the final score 5 - 1.
In the Premier Division Pelton ROAB Struggled to get 11 Fit Players for the Trip to Sedgefield St Edmunds Pelton Found them selves 1-0 down after 3 mins then 1-1 A flurry of activity in the area led to an opposition error. Then Sedgefield added two further Goals to make it, 3-1 down then Dave Surrey fired home from 18 yards out with a well-finished left foot goal, following a cross from Adam Kinston. To make it 3-2, second half Pelton found themselves winning 4-3 thanks to a great team goal, finished off by Michael Graver with a left footed conversion from long range, following a Gareth Cornell pass. Then Michael Graver fired home from 18 yards out with a superb left foot goal, following a through-ball from Craig Marron. Pelton were Now winning 4-3 ,with a minute to go and a slip by Pelton Defender Freeman allowed Sedgefield to level the Scores Finishing 4-4.Burnmmor Cricket Club entertained Sacriston Cricket Club, 1st half Burnmoor Took the lead on 5 mins after player manager Andy Colledge burst into the Sacriston box and finished well from 12 yards,Burnmoor created very little after that, Andy hall going close from a free kick, and Lee Smith hitting the post from 6 yards, sacriston got level on 25mins after the Graham Embleton had a free header from a corner. Final Score 1-1.Houghon Glendale were 3-1 winners at Langley Park Wmc and Brandon Bay Horse Crashed to a 4-2 defeat at Newton Aycliffe wmc.
In the First Division Washington Arms kept up their promotion hopes with a 4-2 win at home to Houghton Mill All Stars. Arms got off to a fine start scoring two goals in the first fifteen minutes - Michael Reay netted the first rounding three Mill defenders before smashing the ball past Mill keeper Ian Price, then a low right wing cross was met by Mill's Andy Adey whose attempted headed clearance ended up in his own net. Mill reduced the deficit on twenty five minutes when Arms keeper Michael Ramsey was beaten to the ball by a fine Gary Adey header from a Nick Thompson cross. Carlo Barrass made it 3-1 to Arms ten minutes before the break with an excellent swerving twenty five yard shot. Shortly after the break Gary Adey netted Mill's second putting the ball into the empty net after rounding keeper Ramsey. With two minutes remaining Arms were assured of three valuable points when Chris Morrison knocked home their fourth after beating Mill's off side trap. Lumley FC were able to come from behind and claim all 3 points in the Home Fixture against visitors Chester Hilda Park. In an evenly balanced game Lumley squandered a host of 1st half chances & at half time the score was 0-0. It was Hilda Park who broke the deadlock through a well worked short corner. Soon after the scores were level when James Laidler powered his 30 yard unstoppable strike into the top corner. With 5 minutes remaining Lumley's Stephen Wood latched onto a through ball & beat the advancing Hilda Park goalkeeper. Giving Lumley a 2-1 lead. Lumley stood firm despite late pressure to hold on to a 2-1 victory.Esh Winning Cricket Club Crashed to an 8-2 Defeat at Birtley Board Inn,Sacriston Wmc won 1-0 at Fatfield Biddick Inn, Washington JFC were 5-0 home winner over visitors Waterhouses Fc.
In the Second Division Chester Osborne Travelled to Pittington Fc and found themselves 1-0 down ten minutes in to the game but a foul on Chris Days in the penalty area led to Chris Winn converting the spot kick. A long clearance from the Pitting ton defence led Paul Botchery to head into his own net giving pitting ton the lead again before Chris Winn scored again after a good run past the Pitting ton defence. Chris Days was next to score converting a Chris Winn pass across the face of the goal before Chris Winn completed his first half hatrick making it 4-2 at halftime. In the second half the Osborne played some good football and were rewarded with Paul Botcherby converting from the penalty spot.Pittington got another after a mix-up at the back and then Chris Days got his second latching onto a long kick from Peter Roddham and coolly lobbing it over the keepers head and Days went onto complete his hatrick from the penalty spot. Wes Hood scored from 20 yards shooting past the keeper and in off the post to make the final score 8-3 to the Osborne. Chilton Wmc won 8-0 at Washington Lambton Village, Steelers Fc won 2-0 at West Rainton Fc. Chester Plough Inn had a lengthy Journey to struggling Bishop Middleham Cross Keys. The Cestrians welcomed back Joel Baddams and Chris Cuthbert son and David Wilcock back into the squad, the away side did manage to grab and early lead and it came from an unlikely source, Keith Lines provided the free kick which Hill dummied for NATHAN BADDAMS to smash into the net from close range. Once The Plough had opened up the scoring there was only going to be one winner and they doubled the lead soon after through JOHN ADAMSON. Lines provided the cross for Adamson to poke home from close range. The Plough extended their lead even further through centre half Mark Atchison Keith Lines once again the provider, crossing for MARK ATCHISON to shoot past the keeper for his first of the season. The home side did manage to get back into the game just on the stroke of half time when the away defence switched off and Bishop scored direct from a corner kick. H/T 1-3 A superb free kick from 25 yards out from Daniel Hill crashed off the underside of the bar and was apparently over the line by three yards; BEN LLOYD followed it in to make sure and was
Marc Atchinson
awarded the goal by the referee. DANIEL HILL did manage to get on the score sheet only moments later to after a long kick forward from goalkeeper Thubron was allowed to bounce and The Plough striker raced onto the chance and made no mistake slotted past the home keeper. BEN LLOYD got his second of the game with a screamer when he struck a fine shot from 25 yards out into the roof of the net over the outstretched hands of the Bishop keeper. The game was now turning into a rout when KEITH LINES added his first of the game with a great pass from Hill, then Lines twisted and turned in the area before placing his shot past the home keeper. The Plough were back on the attack again and earned a free kick on the right. John Forster provided the cross for MARK ATCHISON to double his tally; Bishop Middleham did manage to grab a second of the game when the The Plough defence were stretched due to everyone surging forward. The home striker finished well into the corner of the net. BEN LLOYD completed his man of the match performance with a well deserved hat trick when he went on a mazy run and beat two players for dinking the ball over the keeper and into the net. The away side surged forward and it was now becoming shooting on site in search of the tenth goal. The best chance of the whole game fell to the head of Tony Dogfish who managed to only head the ball straight at the keeper from 1 yard out, which must go down as the miss of the season from the stand in skipper! Thankfully only minutes litter NATHAN BADDAMS saved Tony Daglish blushes when he grabbed the tenth of the game and his brace when Chris Howey crossed for the midfield Dynamo to run onto beat his man and slot home. To Make the Full Time score 10-2 to the Plough.Ushaw Moor Cricket Club were 5-1 winners at Coxhoe Wmc, Sedgefield Black Lion won 5-1 at Pelton Fc.

Witton Gilbert entertained Quarrington Hill having not played for two weeks and having lost there last 3 league games to lose pace on the current leaders Bird Inn. The first half was dominated by the home side and deservedly took a 2-0 lead in the first half through Calcutt scoring from 6 yards out and Narracott firing in a excellent left shot into the top corner from 18 yards out. The second half the visitors started to get back into the game and pulled a goal back when a harmless shot from 20 yards bounced in front of Potts and hit a bobble in the goal month and went into the net. Thankfully, Witton Gilbert were able to restore there two goal led when Meatherall scored from close range with 20 minutes remaining. The last 20 minutes were a pretty drab affair and the home side were able to claim the 3 points to maintain an interest in promotion with still 11 games remaining to be played in the space of 5 weeks.
