In the D & P Trophies Knockout Cup 3rd round Pelaw Grange from the 3rd Division entertained Houghton Glendale from the Premier Division. Pelaw were without their two central defenders Stephen Venus and Andrew Smiles and also their top goalscorer Mark Stevenson. After a delayed start on the Northern Area allocated Pitch due to the snow and frozen ground play got underway. Play was back and forth then around 15 minutes Houghton Centre forward chipped Pelaw Dogs keeper to take the lead. From the kick off Pelaw came back at them with David Donnelly passing to full back David Elders who had made a forward run up the right wing and from his first time cross Eddie Shanks headed them level to make it 1-1. It was nearer half time though when Houghton took the lead again when wit another good chip saw the ball in the back of Pelaws net. After the break they went 3-1 up but then Pelaw were awarded a penalty and although it was saved Gary Ryan raced in to chip it passed the keeper to make it 3-2 then around 65 minutes Chris Hawkins made it 3-3. With 10 minutes to go a hard tackle saw Scott Pattison go down in agony and after a delay of around 5 minutes saw him limp off with torn ligaments in his foot. Anthony Nicholson came on as replacement and Paul Curry had to drop back to central defence. Another hard tackle which was dangerous on this pitch saw David Elders go down injured and resulted in the only booking of the match on the Houghton player. It was still 3-3 in extra time just before the first of the 15 minutes of it when Houghton took the lead again and it was near the end they got a fifth. Pelaw had missed Scott badly in the extra time but referee Peter Fletcher praised them for a well played game and they could hold their heads up high.

In the First Division Houghton Mill All Stars beat Birtley Board Inn 3-2 in an exciting
division one encounter. Steve Fenn gave Mill the lead after twenty minutes with a looping shot from twenty five yards out into the corner of the net. A quick Birtley free kick five minutes later caught the Mill defence napping and Michael Bradley headed home the equaliser.Steve Fenn restored the lead for Mill on the hour mark shooting low past keeper Williams from the edge of the box and with fifteen minutes remaining a right wing pass from Mill's Philip Thompson found Kevin Johnston at the far post who coolly slipped the ball underneath the advancing keeper for 3-1. Birtley were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty kick when Bradley appeared to be upended in the box only for the referee to wave play on. With five minutes remaining Birtley's Ben Dinnery headed in another free kick to make it 3-2 leaving a nervous last few minutes for Mill but they hung on to take all three points.Esh Winning Cricket Club were 5-1 Home winners Over Fatfield Biddick Inn.Gilesgate Moor Hotel won 2-0 against visitors Waterhouses Fc, a goal each from Anthony Chapman and Sam Johnson gave Chester Hilda Park a 2-1 away win at Sacriston Wmc.League Leader Washington Arms were 4-1 winners at Lumley Fc
In the Second Division Chester Plough Inn were back on home soil this morning entertaining Chilton WMC the Plough Manager Lee Johnson, handed a debut to new signing Niall Thubron in goal. The Plough were looking to continue on from last weeks good performance, however it was Chilton who started the brighter of the two sides. The away team passed the ball around well and had plenty of the opening play. The home side were giving away possession far too easily and allowing Chilton to play in the middle of the park. The away side thought they had grabbed the lead in the 20th minute when one of their midfield broke through on the right hand side of the area and fired in a great shot only to see Thubron in The Plough goal pull off a fantastic finger tip save onto the cross bar and away to safety. The away side came straight back at the home side and again Thubron pulled off another great save low to his left to keep his side in the game. Against the run of play The Plough took the lead with an unfamiliar type of goal. A long punt forward was flicked on by Daniel Hill for forward JOEL BADDAMS to run onto and coolly lobbed the keeper from 25 yards for a great finish. The goal seemed to increase the confidence for the home side as they applied a lot more pressure and finished the half the stronger of the two sides.
The Half Time Score 1-0 to the Plough. The Plough kicked off the second period and notched in the opening minute with a great team goal. Full back Tony Dalglish played a great ball down the right channel for Keith Lines, who beat his man and fired in a great cross which Daniel Hill flicked on for CHRIS CUTHBERTSON to poke home from close range. The goal gave the home side a bit more breathing space and hoped to go on and finish the game off. Chilton got a life line 5 minutes later when a long ball into the area was met by the head of one of their attackers and looped the ball high into the net. Substitute keeper Witherspoon made a fine save down to his right to keep his team in front, The Plough held strong for the last 20 minutes and restricted Chilton to long range efforts to take the 3 points and win 2-1.Durham Bede Lodge were 3-2 winners at Bishop Middleham Cross Keys, and Pelton Fc were 4-0 Home winners over Sherburn Lambton Arms.
In the Third Division Washington Victoria Inn gave One of their best displays of the season when they travelled to East Rainton to East Rainton Travellers Rest Fc.The Vic were totally dominant from the off and never gave East Rainton a second on the ball anywhere on the pitch. On 5 min A ball from Paul Kindon led to a goalmouth scramble. Steven Wilson made no mistake with a textbook right footed finish from 18 yards out. 1-0 to the Vic then 15 min Paul Kindon fired home from close range with a clinical right foot goal, following a through-ball from Ryan Mason. 10 Mins Later Steven Wilson supplied the cross, and Paul Kindon found the net from just inside the box with a well-finished right footed effort. On 35 min Andrew Cameron fired home from 18 yards out with a well-finished headed goal, following a corner from Ryan Mason. To make 4-0 to the Vic in the second Half a well delivered cross from Steven Douglas was converted by Paul Kindon. A fine finish with the right foot from close range. Then on 75 min Paul Kindon added his fourth Goal and the Vic’s 6th firing home from 18 yards out with a tremendous right foot goal, following a through-ball from Steven Douglas. East Rainton did add a Consolation Goal final sore 6-1 to the Vic.Bowburn Cooperage were 4-0 winner at Framwellgate Moor Salutation, Hamsteels Inn Lost 5-2 at Washington Usworth Top Club.Shadorth Plough Inn were 9-2 Home winners over Ferryhill Dynamo’s.
In the Fourth Division High Handenhold Bird Inn entertained Witton Gilbert WMC First half saw a few chances fall to the bird Inn but none were taken and it was witton Gilbert who went in at half time 1-0 up. But a good team talk from manager Del Swift fired up the Bird who saw goals from Marc Wood, Neil Tiffen and a hatrick from Andy Smith kill off Witton Gilbert before sub Lee Curry scored two more in 10 mins to win the game 7-1.Key players were M.O.M Marc Wood for his goal that started the come back and his two assists and left back Shane Swift for his great performance in defence. Chester Leonard’s Crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Durham Garden House, Framwellgate Moor wmc were 5-1 winners at Neville’s Cross Social., New Durham Travelled to Washington to Play the Ox and Plough and were worthy 5-1 winners.Quarrington Hill wmc were 3-2 Home winners over Washington Colliery
In the 2nd round of the D & P Knockout Cup Pelaw Grange Dogs FC were away to Pittington FC at Sherburn Leisure Centre the first half was a dour affair with neither side deserving to be in front. After the interval Mark Stevenson of Pelaw Grange Dogs was brought down in the box the resulting penalty saw the Pelaw Captain Dave Donnelly hit the post and the ball was cleared. Then a long ball forward saw Chris Hawkins chase the high ball and the ball rebounded off his chest and past the keeper making it 1-0 to Pelaw Grange Dogs at around 55 minutes. Within 7 minutes another long ball saw Mark Stevenson go clear with only the keeper to beat and as the keeper dived Mark out it over the top of him to make it 2-0 to Pelaw Grange Dogs. Pelaws central defence of sweeper Stephen Venus and centre half's Scott Pattison and Andy smiles had played well all afternoon snuffling any efforts by Pittington. Houghton Glendale Social were 1-0 winners over Washington Lambton Village Inn.
In the JD Taxis Trophy 2nd Round .Chester Osborne Wmc travelled to Coxhoe Wmc only to find the Pitch unplayable so Both Teams and Match Referee Travelled to Washington the Osborne’s Home Pitch to make sure this fixture was played, both teams started brightly which continued throughout the game. The Osborne went 1-0 up through man of the match Chris Winn, Coxhoe club replied soon after and it was 1-1 at half time. After half time both teams pushed for the edge and it was Chris Winn who scored again to make it 2-1.Coxhoe pushed again but nerves were settled when Wes Hood Volleyed home from Andrew Willcocks corner.Chris Winn went on to complete his hatrick ten minutes before time, making the final score 4-1.In the Third Round Washington JFC were 3-1 winners at Sedgefield Black Lion.
Chester Easy Street Fc crashed out of the Spennymoor Town Fc League Cup with defeat at the hands of Premier League side Ferryhill WMC. With Damon Ellis, David Tyson and Carl Ritchie missing from last week, Jak Penny came back into a four man defence and Glen Taylor moved into the three man midfield as manager Michael Dalkin went back to his trusted 4-5-1 formation. But the first half was a complete disaster with the midfield failing to get a foothold on the game and Penny getting caught napping time and time again by the Ferryhill winger. Ferryhill did take a deserved lead midway through the first half with their front two exchanging passes before slotting home. Half time couldn't come quick enough but the second half started just as badly with Mickle failing to convert some good chances.
Ferryhill soon made Easy pay as they doubled their lead and looked to be heading into the fourth round.
But Dalkin showed his tactical onus by shifting Mark Peck upfront and going for a 3-5-2 formation that reinvigorated his side. Meckler eventually scored what turned out to be a consolation.
But for the last 20 minutes of the game Easy showed enough battle to merit an equaliser and Pecks looping header almost earned them one. But as the final whistle blew, it was a disappointing defeat for Easy Street as yet another cup dream ends

In the National Football Association Sunday Cup Competition, Huddersfield Irish Centre Fc were the Visitors to Spennymoor Towns Ground on Sunday to Face to face 2006 and 2008 winners of the Competition Hetton Lyons Cricket Club. Both sides looking to progress into the Quarter Final of the Competition. The Lyons and the Irish Centre both fielded very strong sides, The Lyons having to battle hard for the full 90 minutes against the well organised Irish Centre from Huddersfield. The visitors had the better of the chances in the first half but they couldn’t hit the goal, the Irish centre’s goalkeeper Brian Giles pulled off a brilliant save from Chris bell and shortly after that good work from Warren Byrne passed it to Gavin Cogden and his shot beat the Irish Centres keeper but smashed against the crossbar, Half Time saw the scores level at 0-0.
After the break both sides started brightly with some good football on display. The turning point came on the hour mark as the Hetton striker Byrne shot towards goal, Giles the Irish Centre Keeper had it covered comfortably; unfortunately the ball took a nasty bounce of the surface and bounced into the roof of the net passed a helpless Giles. A cruel way to go behind to make the scoreline 1-0 to Hetton. The Lyons kept pushing for another goal but the visitor’s keeper Giles pulled off some good saves, the Yorkshire side were pushing more men forward, looking to level the scores , but the Lyons defence kept strong to go in to the quarter final with a Hard Fought 1-0 win. The Irish Centre can feel extremely proud of their efforts as they came up against a very strong and capable side who have strength in depth. The Irish Centre left Spennymoor wishing Hetton all the best for the rest of the competition and as many said be fore this game, the winner of this years competition was very likely to come from Sunday's game.

In the First Division Bottom of the table Esh Winning Cricket Club had only their second win of the season at home to Houghton Mill All Stars.Esh took the lead after twenty five minutes but Mill soon equalised when Gary Adey headed on from a corner kick for David Hall to slam home at the far post. Mill’s David Jane then made a disastrous pass back to keeper Pearson and the ball ended up in the empty net for 2-1. A superb goal line clearance from Mill's Chris Rogerson and a flying one handed save from keeper Dan Pearson prevented Esh from extending their lead. But Esh were much the better side throughout the game and deservedly stretched the gap to 4-1 before Mill's Gary Adey rounded the Esh keeper for a final score of 4-2.Lumley Fc were 1-0 winners at Birtley Board Inn.

Having adjusted to playing uphill in the second half a move from midfield saw Dave Donnelly pass to Eddie shanks who cross passed the ball across to a clear Mark Stevenson who was quite happy to slot it home. A rebounded shot by David Fleming then saw Paul Curry volley the ball in off the bar to make it 4 nil and then Neil Worley made it 5 with 15 minutes to go. It was 2-0 soon after with Allen Robson smashing home a half volley from the edge of the box with Mickle adding a third just before half time with a precise finish from the edge of the area after good work from Ritchie. The second half continued in the same vein as Easy got into their stride whilst their opponents tired on the boggy pitch. Stephen Marriott continued the scoring with a diving header from Davison's corner and then Mickle casually knocked home Easy's 100th of the season to make it 5-0. The languid striker beat two players before rounding the goalkeeper and tapping into an empty net. Robson completed the route late on with another powerful finish to make it 6-0 and another unbeaten league game.

To all Clubs in the Durham Sunday Football League.
I have been instructed by the Chairman and Management Committee of the Durham Sunday Football League to write to you regarding The Non Leaguezone.co.uk web site that has recently published some comments regarding the Durham Sunday Football League, concerning the Referees, Committee and the way the League is administered. A lot of theses Comments are on a Personal basis, I will not go into detail on the comments posted because the people who posted the comments know who they are and are aware of the Content, this includes Comment that was published but has since been removed from the site,
The Latest Comments referred to an e-mail sent by myself on 1st feb at 1-20pm to all Clubs in the League re the weather and postponing this was then published on the nonleague zone web site the day after at 8-20 am, as this e-mail was only sent to Club secretaries I can only assume that the person who hides behind the name of Truth Teller is a Club Secretary in this League, at the present moment in time the League is Investigating Who The Truth Teller is? I thank Mr Truth Teller for his comments aimed at myself, but as he or she is such a coward hiding behind the user Name I am unable to reply. This also goes to Frankie 01 who I will reply to yes I’ve played Football Played in this League For Belmont Wmc, Metal Bridge, Broompark Loves and ran a Northern League Team for 17 Years, Mazzo Hi 5 is another that hides behind the user name along with Weshy , Fat Italian and Andy coll.Marron04.The Moderator for the Site, this is the person who reads all the posts and allows them to be published with his consent is marron04 who is attached to Pelton ROAB in the League Premier Divison who has not only allowed the comments on the site but also added many of his own.
Over the past Year these people have continually slagged of the Hard working League Management Committee of this League, criticizing every thing the league has done.
Below Ive added some of the Comments that have been posted. Some I have not added as I will not embarrass the writers.

''Well at least the people that know about footy agree we've been hammered, perhaps the muppets that make decisions like this read this forum and my comments about the shambles theyve made the admin side of the league and thought, ah we'll show him, you've proved my points gents, you really havent got a clue

Witton beaten very surprised. Good win for kelloe, although soppy having lads missing or pissed is sunday morning craic. As ive posted we won 2-1 two good side glendale very young but decent one thing i will say and wether its right or wrong the ref today was appalling, unfit to ref, the durham secretaries will realise who i mean but the bloke is not capable of refereeing any age group, without being nasty. Yes there is a shortag but a bloke with those impairments is not fit to referee a game at ANY level.
i agree craig,if the fella cant hear you then hes always going to struggle, nothing against him but it just leads to frustration between players....Thats the one andy, should not ref any games at all, cant get away guessing decisions

''i have nothing but sympathy for use maz as we have the best sunday morning league in the north east run by muppets who are only intrested in what money they can get back off yer for PETTY fines suspensions etc and they dont appreciate the talent they have got throughout the durham and district league premier aswell as the rest of the d&d leagues.OLD FARTS who might have played the game but certainly dont know much about running the league with a BIT common sense! ''
These Idiots are obviously not aware how a League Is run and have never been involved with running a League as the Comments would not have been posted, they love to criticise on how the league is run. You never see these people at Meetings voicing their concerns as maybe they are frightened to stand up and speak, they prefer to speak using a User Name in the Hope they will never be identified. We may see them at the Leagues AGM wishing to stand for election on to the Leagues Management Committee to show how they will be able to run the League.
If they had their way the Premier Division of the League would have Refeerers each week but lower Divisions would not despite all clubs paying the same League Fees. T
The Referee mentioned on one of the posts is very upset and is looking possibly to take the matter further as this was an attack on him personally, as are some of the comments aimed at both myself and the League Management Committee.
Their opinion on the Inter League Competitions has been noted by the Durham County Football Association also by the League below is the latest post by Truth Teller who has organised the game at Durham City., Truth Teller has not got a Clue what he is Talking about in fact his comments like all he has posted so far are rubbish.

I was just wondering who is going to foot the bill for the ddsl putting a team in this competition, the first tie is at home so its odds on that the comittee will want to use durhams ground theres £250, a set of strips for this team £400 referees and linesmen if shared will still be £50. will that be £700 out of the leagues coffers considering how much they say the league is struggling for cash semms another good idea on their behalf |
