News from around  the Clubs

Chester Plough Inn
Chester Plough Inn  are Holding a  RACE NIGHT AND XMAS RAFFLE  on Saturday 19th December starting at 7pm at The Plough.
It’s the first time we’ve had such an event so let’s make a huge effort and support the event and raise some funds in the process. It should be great fun, plenty of alcohol, loads of banter and a chance to win a few quid! I would appreciate if all players attended, as well as friends, wags and family. Please invite as many people as possible. I’m sure we can all hit the bright lights at the end of the night!!
We will also have our annual Christmas raffle drawn on the night. I have enclosed a list of prizes and raffle tickets which each player must sell. 20 strips at £1 per strip.

John Forster
On behalf of everyone from The Plough Inn, I would just like to congratulate John Forster and Gemma on their new arrival.

Ryan Thomas Forster was born at 4.58am, 8lb 14oz.

All are doing well.

Peter Quinn
Club secretary and Plough favourite Peter Quinn has decided to tie the knot next year.

As we all know the most important thing about marriage is the stag do!! So were all going to Amsterdam (sight seeing of course) on 7th May 2010, which will include travelling to the dam via ferry, 1 night over there and then returning the following day via ferry.

Total cost will be £160 which includes the ferry and hotel. £20 deposits are due now and balance by 12th March.
The plan is to incorporate our end of season football trip with the stag do and therefore the football club will be looking to make a contribution for players towards the cost of the trip. At this stage, i dont know how much the club will pay towards the trip as it will depend on fund raising events between now and the end of season. One rule is that players subs must be paid up to date!
I need names as soon as possible from people who are definitely going so I can arrange to pay the deposit to Quinny.

 Sedgefield Netpark
MEET NEW SIGNING JOE BURKE OUR FIRST LANCASHIRE DYNAMO.
When Sedgefield NETPark F.C started their recruitment drive for the summer there were three names given by Baggy who would improve the squad no end, Turland, Earnshaw and Burke. We got a glimpse of Earnshaw and Turland in pre season but had to wait till after the season started to see what Joe had to offer. Hailing from Preston, Lancs he is our first player from outside the north east alongside Rob Earnshaw who is from even further south. Joe has impressed management and playing staff with his undoubted ability on the ball but his energy and bursts into the penalty area make him an extremely valuable attacking midfielder. A player who has certainly been used to certain standards of football (including Uni I would imagine) Joe has had to adapt his game to the hustle and bustle of the Durham and District 3rd Division where you don’t get as much time on the ball to show how good a footballer you actually are more often than not there’s someone right up your arse ready to clean you out. Reading that back it may sound like Joe is a bad player and that is certainly not what I was aiming for, im simply stating I imagine Joe has played at a level where your given a bit of time on the ball and if you can’t play your soon found out (I loved that level too fella). Anyway a classy midfielder who’s range of passing is a delight to watch. He has a sumptuous first touch essential for “that level” and his fitness levels are exceptional something that really is essential to play in this league. Once Joe finds that consistency which all good players will find I expect to see him commanding games through his ability. A fantastic partner in the middle of the park for Kev Broom and we look forward to seeing him more on the social side as the season progresses. After bagging his first goal for the club at the weekend against East Rainton, NETPark News reporter Nick Walker caught up with Joe and got his thoughts on settling in with the lads.

The Jolly Potters are  Eaten up by the Lyons

By Groundhopper

In the Durham County Football Association Sunday Cup 2nd Round Holders Hetton Lyons Cricket Club moved into the next round with a comfortable 8-0 Home win over the Sunderland Sunday League Side the Jolly Potter . The weather conditions were horrendous but the Lyons do what they do best and played football for 90 minutes. The Jolly Potter came to the Spennymoor Ground with the reputation of being one of the best sides in the Sunderland Sunday League and in the last round of the County cup defeating Plains farm wmc. The Jolly Potter on the day failed to Turn Up, they had just one shot at goal and they were outclassed from start to finish in every department by the rampant Hetton Lyons. Hetton went 1-0  up after 17 mins great work from Ruddy on the right hand side and crossed for Lawther who side footed it in. In the 28th min it was a penalty for the Lyons, Lawther was brought down in the box and from the penalty the goalkeeper saved from Byrne and from the rebound he smashed it against the crossbar. Warren Byrne got his 1st goal in the 41st minute, a thru ball from Gareth Waite and Byrne  ran on to it the beating 2 defenders and the going round the keeper and slotting the ball home, half time 2-0.

The second half got under way and the rain was getting heavier  the Lyons made it 3-0 after 50 mins, a great cross from Waite and Byrne hit the ball giving the Potters keeper no chance. Daniel Moore came on for Lewis Dodds after 66mins and with first touch scored, Lawther collected the ball from the half way line and ran at the defence leaving them for dead he then shot at goal with the keeper on the edge of the box who saved it with his feet and rebounded to Moore who Lobbed it over everyone from 25 yds to make it 4-0.  John toft created the 5th goal after73 mins with a great run and jumping over the Potters defenders and his shot was saved and Byrne was there for the rebound and his hat-trick to make 5-0.The next 4 goals came in the space of 4 mins, Lawther beat the offside trap to make it 6-0 then Chris Bell was fouled in the box and Lawther claimed his hat-trick from the penalty spot and in the 89th minute the Lyons made it 8-0 with Moore’s  shot was parried  and Bell scored from the rebound. John Toft finally got on the score sheet with a neat one-two with Ainsley and gave the keeper no chance. Full time 9-0.

Hetton Lyons proved today the could play football whatever the weather and full credit to everyone, the defence didn’t give there forwards a sniff at goal, Ainsley and Dodds in the  middle showed them how to win a ball and pass it, and the forwards never stopped battering there goal. Jolly Potters were very disappointing and the finished with 10 men. Brandon Bay Horse also had a Comfortable Home win 8-2 over Stockton Sunday League Side Stockton Sun Inn.Kelloe Wmc Travelled to Easington to Play the HMS Victory Club and in a very close Game progressed to the next Round with a 2-1 win.Sedgfield St Edmunds entertained Trimdon the Dovecote in very heavy conditions they were 4-0 winners. Pelton ROAB’s Game at Darlington DSRM All stars was cancelled due to the waterlogged Pitch. Houghton Glendale Social Crashed out of the Competition Losing 5-0 at Sunderland Sunday League Side Hastings Hill. Langley Park Wmc were 4-0 Home winners Over Hartlepool Rovers Quoits Club. Chester Easy Street crashed out of the County Cup after a disappointing display against Gateshead Premier League side Barley Mow. In treacherous conditions which, almost caused the match to be called off, didn't help matters as Barley Mow showed their supremacy over their fourth division opponents. The Gateshead champions had the best possible start to the game, scoring after two minutes. A ball in from the right was headed against David Tyson and the resulting cross was headed into the net by the unmarked Barley number nine. Easy Street tried to hit back but the conditions were hampering their play although a moment of brilliance from Allen Robson almost unlocked the tight Barley Mow defence. A sumptuous ping from the outside of his foot almost allowed leading scorer Craig Mickle a chance, but his composure let him down at the vital time. Easy’ streets first real chance fell to Anthony Davison, whose left footed free kick looked destined for the bottom right corner only for the Barley keeper to pull off a great save. Easy Street  continued to press but always looked fragile when Barley Mow were pouring forward and their number 9 made it 2-0 on 24 minutes. The striker showed great strength and skill to skip past David Cowan and Steven Marriott before slotting a precise finish past James Davidson. Craig Mickle then had a glorious chance to give Easy Street some momentum going into half time but fluffed his lines at the vital moment. A deflected shot from Davison fell to Mickle who improvised an effort with his knee only to the ball hit the bar with an open goal gaping. Barley Mow secured the game five minutes into the second half. Good work from the number eight saw him sidestep Cowan and shot low past Davidson from the edge of the area, with the ball clipping the post before nestling in the back of the net. It was a hammer blow to Easy Street but they still battled on to maintain their pride and could have made it 3-1 on the hour mark. David Hope, who has been in good goal scoring form of late, smashed a speculative 25 yard effort that crashed back off the crossbar. But it was Davison who got the goal that Easy's endeavours deserved. The left wingers persistence was rewarded when his shot was deflected by the goalkeeper and into the net. But again, it was all in vain as James Davidson parried straight into the path of the number nine who completed his hatrick and made it 4-1.

But it was Easy who had the last laugh with David Hope scoring to make it 4-2. A long ball was taken by Davison who skipped past the keeper and crossed for Mickle. The lanky striker showed a great touch, strength and awareness to take it down, turn and lay it off to Hope who blasted in his 3rd in three games.

The final whistle blew soon after and despite a hearty performance Easy Street are out of the County Cup and will sure to be concentrating on their League form as they have a number of games in hand.

Pelton Fc fall to the Dogs

by groundhopper

In the D & P Trophies Knockout Cup 1st Round Pelaw Grange Dogs entertained High Flying Pelton Fc,  after an inspection of the pitch referee Peter. Fletcher indicated the game was on. After only a few minutes Eddie Shanks scored a well taken goal for Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc after they Pelton had held them back for the first few minutes but within minutes had levelled the game at 1-1.  After around 30 minutes Pelaw again took the lead but this time via David Donnelly to make it 2-1 however Pelton had a goal mouth scrabble to score to make it 2-2 at the interval. Both sides headed to the Comfort and warmth of the Changing rooms at Half Time, the second half started with  Pelton making a  couple of substitutions and the game swung back and forth with neither side being able to find the net. Then David Elders robbed a Pelton player who seemed to just stop and put a great through ball splitting Peltons defence and leaving Chris Hawkins to take the ball past their keeper. It looked to be all over with 20 minutes to go as David Elders put another through ball  to the forwards and Pelaw went 4-2 to up from a deflected own goal. David Fleming hit the post with a great effort for it to bounce off it for a goal kick and their keeper early on the second half nearly scored from a kick from goal. With 10 minutes left though David Donnelly was alleged to handle the ball in the box and Pelton gratefully tucked the ball away to make it 4-3 to Pelaw Grange Dogs. Although Pelton pressed hard for an equaliser Pelaws defence worked equally as hard to keep the game at 4-3 and were well deserved their win. In the torrential rain both teams played some good football with very few problems for referee Peter Fletcher to deal with who had a very good game.  Chester-le-Street Plough Inn had a home game after being on their travels for the last 8 games. Third division high flyers Washington Usworth Top Club were providing the opposition in the 1st Round of The D & P Trophies Knockout Cup. With not a puddle in sight and a quick inspection from the referee the pitch was deemed as playable The extreme weather conditions were horrendous for both sides and in the early stages of the game both teams seemed to cancel each other out. The home side were a little sloppy in their opening play and gave away possession, however Usworth Top Club failed to any advantage. The away side thought they had grabbed the lead in the 20th minute when they were awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal. The Top Club player curled the free kick round the wall but Plough Inn goalkeeper Jon Witherspoon managed to get a hand to it and tip the ball round the post. This seemed to waken the home side up and now started to play some neat attractive football, with Joel Baddams and John Forster causing problems down the flanks. The Plough Inn had now started to create several chances with Daniel Hill Going Close with a Curled Effort. The Home Side Did Get The Breakthrough In The 37th Minute When Ben Lloyd Picked The Ball Up From 30 Yards Out And Struck A Shot Straight At The Goalkeeper Who Managed To Fumble The Ball Under His Body And Over The Line. This Was A Deserved Lead On The Balance Of Play And The Home Side Now Were Looking To Kick On From Here. Only Moments Later They Did Double Their Lead With Some Neat Play From John Forster On The Right Who Supplied A Wonderful Cross For Joel Baddams To Make No Mistake From Six Yards Out. The Home Side Were Now Enjoying A Great Spell Of Pressure And Took Advantage Of Some Hesitancy In The Usworth Defence To Increase Their Lead Further. Ben Lloyd Was The Creator This Time, Providing A Great Through Ball For Chris Cuthbertson To Get There Before The Goalkeeper And Bundle The Ball Over The Line. This Gave the Plough a 3-0 Half time lead. The second half started very slowly for the home side as Usworth applied a bit of pressure. Now playing with the wind and the rain on their backs, they pushed the home defence back in the early period. The Plough were giving the ball away a little too often early on but soon got their grips on the game. The home side started to get the ball down on the surface and keep the ball moving, stretching Usworth. The killer goal came in the 53rd when John Forster played another superb through ball for Daniel Hill to run onto from his own half giving him a one on one with the goalkeeper and he made no mistakes, slotting the ball past the keeper. Usworth scored a Goal when on of their Forwards picked the ball up from 40 yards out and hit a speculative effort in the air towards goal, which Plough goalkeeper John Witherspoon managed to slightly jump and force the ball down and into the net! With the wind and the rain now getting stronger by the minute The Plough managed to pick themselves up and start again. This proved to be the only blip in the game as the defence stood strong to any encounter from Usworth. The game was all wrapped up in the 75th minute with a fantastic bit of play from top Goals corer Daniel Hill. John Forster was once again involved supplying a good ball down the line, for Hill to turn his man inside out before driving the ball past the away keeper. There was one final glorious chance late on in the game when Daniel Hill broke through and even though he was on his hat-trick unselfishly played in Tony Daglish who could only hit a tame shot straight at the keeper. The poor effort frustrated Daniel Hill as he had a clear sight on goal to complete his hat trick but fair play to him as he put the team first. Final score 5-1 to the Plough. In the same Competition Kelloe Davy Lamp were 5-3 winners at West Rainton.

The JD Taxis Trophy Game between New Durham Wmc and Washington Jfk was abandoned at Half time with Washington leading 1-0, The Pitch deemed to be Unplayable.Sherburn Lambton Arms did get their game on and were 3-2 winners over Visitors Framwellgate Moor Wmc.The Big Chester le Street derby Between the Osborne and Hilda Park also was cancelled due to the weather.

The Ramside Hall Hotel Cup Game at Sacriston Cricket Club, between the Cricketers and visitors Newton Aycliffe Wmc finished 3-3 at 90 Mins But the worsening weather prevented the extra Time from being played.

In the Deerness Trophies Competition the Game at Ferryhill between the White Horse and Houghton Chilton Lodge was Cancelled, Washington Colliery Did get their game on but were beaten 3-2 By Framwellgate Moor Salutation.

In the Third Round of the Alan Smith Trophy Gilesgate Moor Hotel were 3-0 winners at Lumley Fc.

In the Only Premiership Game  Burnmoor Cricket Club entertained Burnside wmc In the 30 Min Paul Taylor fired home from 18 yards out with a well-finished right foot goal, following a through-ball from Will Caris. To Put the Home side 1-0 Up Then on 65 min a flurry of activity in the area led to an opposition error. Paul Taylor took advantage by scoring a well-finished right footed goal from 18 yards out. Then on 80 Mins Burnmoor Increased their Lead some good work from Will Caris led to a goalmouth scramble. Lee Smith took advantage by scoring a well-finished right footed goal from close range. To Give Burnmoor a comfortable 3-0 Home win.

In pouring rain and a driving cross wind Washington Arms and Esh Wining Cricket Club defied the conditions to complete the Division One game. Esh Winning initially handle the conditions best and through continuous pressure forced the Arms into concede ding an own goal on the twenty minute mark. As the Arms come to terms with the atrocious weather chances started to come there way. Five minutes before half time Danny Murray heads in the equaliser from an inch perfect Danny Noble cross. Three minutes later a fine individual effort from Carlo Barrass gives the Arms a two – one half time lead. In the second half Esh Winning pushed forward in search of an equaliser, a long range  Craig Dean effort goes close for the Cricketers, the Arms Forwards Looked to punish the Cricketers  from breakaways. In a ten minute spell the Arms added three more goals, Darren Green back heads a near post cross over the out-stretched arms of the keeper, and Craig Smith finishes off the move of the game following great work down the left from Steve Crame and Danny Murray. Darren Green brings the scoring to an end with his second of the game. Waterhouses were 2-1 winners at Birtley Board Inn and the Game at Fatfield between the Biddick Inn and Sacriston Wmc fell foul of the weather.

In the second Division Durham Bede Lodge were comfortable 6-0 winners over Bishop Middleham Cross Keys, Sedgefield Black Lion and Visitors The Steelers shared the Points In a 1-1 Draw, Chilton’s Home Game with Pittington was off due to a Waterlogged Pitch and Coxhoe were 3-0 up after 65 Mins against visitors Ushaw Moor Cricket Club when the ref abandoned the Game due to the Pitch becoming unplayable.

In the Third Division Hetton Social Travelled to Washington Victoria the Victoria lined up with a strong starting 11 and really took the game to Hetton getting in their faces and making it difficult for them to work the ball. In all fairness they do have lads who can play decent football and on occasion they did it. The midfield was a battlefield but Steven Talbot excelled with a MOTM performance, grabbing a hat-trick in the first half and adding another in the second. Mark Liddle got a brace and Paul Kindon got one to give the Victoria a 7-1 win. Hetton’s goal came from a penalty after Darren Stanley was penalised for being stamped on by their player and the Hetton player tucked it away in the bottom corner. The Game at Hamsteels between the Home side and East Rainton was Cancelled again a Waterlogged Pitch, Sedgefield Net Park Travelled to Ferryhill to play the Dynamos and were very Successful in a Fine 5-1 away Win. Low Fell Gold Medal were 6-3 winners at Shadforth Plough Inn.

In the Fourth Division  Witton Gilbert Wmc entertained Durham Garden House, Both teams should be congratulated for putting on an entertaining game in atrocious conditions with driving rain and hail throughout the game. A special mention should also go to the referee Dennis Matuszek who handled everything very well and did not let the adverse conditions affect his judgement at all.Witton started the game well and were in front after 15 minutes when a great cross from Barrie Allport was headed home at the far post by Scott Emmerson. The second goal was not long in coming with Witton dominating proceedings and Peter Maughan got on the score sheet with a good header to make it 2-0.Garden House hit back with a rare effort against the wind in the first half to make it 2-1 after 38 minutes but Witton hit back almost immediately when Scott Embleton broke free down the right to return the favour with Barrie Allport who converted the cross with great calmness to beat the keeper from 6 yards. The second half was a little different with Garden House having a stronger wind and hail at their backs they got much more possession and battled very well to get the scores back level.Witton came back again with a determined effort and got their noses in front once more when Scott Embleton got his second when he scrambled home a ball from close range with 18 minutes remaining. The goals were not finished yet and Barrie Allport made it 5-3 with his second, a good strike from 18 yards which the keeper could get nowhere near. Peter Maughan then got his second when he followed up on a save from the keeper. Garden House got their 4th just before time to finish an entertaining game 6-4 to the hosts. Langley Park Rams Head were beaten 4-2 at Ox close Ox and Plough; High Handenhold Bird Inn beat Nevilles Cross Social 8-1 . Chester Leonard’s were 1-0 Home winners over Quarrington Hill Wmc.

The Cricketers Bowl Out Burnside Wmc

By Groundhopper
In the Only Game in the premier Division to escape the weather Sacriston Cricket Club Travelled to Burnside Wmc.The Cricketers Looking to gain three Points to put them level on top of the Premier Division with Hetton Lyons Cricket Club. The Cricketers won this game with much to spare in the end but we had some very difficult moments in the first half most of which were through their own making. Burnside Wmc Took the Lead on 12 minutes when a ball was played all the way across the box and a Burnside Forward Fired the ball into the net from around 12 yards out. The Cricketers made it 1-1 when an inspired solo goal by Gary Draper, scored from long range with the right foot. It was a first-class effort... the move originally started with some good work from Graham Embleton. Although Burnside had a few good chances to go back in front the Cricketers were starting to control the game, but with 5 mins to go to half time the Cricketers conceded a crazy penalty with. John Robson under pressure tried to play the ball back to Marc Bladen on the line who was forced to then make a last ditch tackle on the Burnside forward and although Bladen got the ball he got some of the man as well and the referee gave the penalty which the Burnside player converted with no problem. The Cricketers went in 2-1 down at half time Robert Draper headed in a Graeme Embleton free kick from around 13 yards out with a brilliant goal. In the 48 min the scores were levelled when a well delivered through-ball from Graham Embleton was converted by Rob Draper. A first-class finish with the head from 18 yards out. This seemed to settle the Cricketers down who we were playing with the wind and down the slope which was proving to be a good advantage as the game wore on. Graeme Embleton put the Cricketers 3-2 ahead on 55 mins when his brilliant right footed shot went in from 25 yards showing great technique to take the shot on with the ball from around knee height which fizzed in via the keeper's right hand who perhaps should have done better. They made the game safe on 81 mins when Gary Draper received the ball from Graeme Embleton deep in the Burnside half and he ran and teased the Burnside defence dancing his way into the box before shooting left footed across the keeper who got a hand to his shot but couldn't keep it out of the bottom corner.  Gary Draper completed his hatrick on 87 mins when White carried the ball out of his right back position and put Gary Draper 1 on 1 with the final Burnside defender and although Gary had the opportunity to take the ball further towards goal he decided to shoot from 25 yards out and the ball flew into the top corner. This made the Final Score 5-2 to Sacriston. , however Sacriston took the 3 points and  now have 24 points from 12 games and go level on points at the top with Hetton Lyons.

In Division One Washington JFC consolidated their position at the table top with a hard fought for 2-1 victory over local rivals Washington Arms. The Arms started well with the lively Craig Smith creating all sorts of problems. However against the run of play at the time a long JFC throw finds its way into the Arms net off Brian Rossell to give JFC the lead on the thirty minute mark. The Arms responded strongly and fully deserve the equaliser five minutes before halt time, Danny Murray scoring from the spot at the third attempt, the previous two being ruled out for encroachment. The second half is not dominated by either side, both teams playing attractive and entertaining football without really troubling the goalkeepers. The match wining goal follows a lack of concentration in the Arms defence, with defenders appealing for a foul Marc Baxter breaks free into the box, his weak effort deceives the keeper and limply rolls into the back of the net.

Houghton Mill All Stars were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Waterhouses. The away side took the lead after thirty minutes when a Brian Gott free kick was parried by Mill keeper Dan Pearson straight to the feet of Brendan Glevin who tapped the ball into the net. In the second half Mill piled relentless pressure onto the Waterhouses goal but despite chance after chance they just couldn't score – David Hall hit the cross bar twice, Andy Adey ran three quarters the way up the field sidestepping opponent after opponent before shooting straight at the keeper, David Jane volleyed wide and Waterhouses keeper Paul Bellamy saved a point blank header from Gary Adey. Mill's equaliser eventually came on eighty minutes when a Philip Thompson cross was headed towards goal by Steve Fenn, the keeper saved it but the ball fell nicely for Nick Thompson to blast into the net.Birtley Board Inn were 4-1 winners at Lumley Fc. James Laidler scoring for Lumley Fc.

In the Second Division the Big Chester le Street Derby saw Chester Osborne playing host to Chester Plough at Rickleton .The Game started with Both sides pushing for an early goal, within 5 minutes the Osborne were one up through Lloyd McGee, The Plough hit back almost immediately when Paul Haggan turned in a cross into his own goal making it one all. The Osborne replied with a lush 18 yard volley over the ploughs keeper only for the plough to reply 5 minutes later to make it two each. Then the turning point of the match occurred when Anthony Daglish the Plough Defender saved a shot from Chris Bennett on the line and was sent off by the Referee leaving the Plough with only ten men on the pitch. Chris Winn made no mistake and scored from the spot. With some good saves from Man of the match Peter Roddham in the Osborne Goal and another two goals from Chris Winn to complete his hatrick The Osborne won deservedly 5-2 to a fighting 10 men Plough. Pelton Fc were 3-1 winners at Pittington Fc, Sedgefield Black Lion were 2-1 home winners over Washington Lambton Village .

In the Third Division Washington Victoria entertained the Divisions bottom club Framwellgate Moor Salutation in a very one sided game were the Salutation had one shot on goal Credit goes to the Salutation goalkeeper who pulled of some excellent saves. The Victoria Took the lead on 5 min Steven Talbot fired home from close range with a well-finished headed goal, following a cross from Steven Wilson. Further Goals Came in the 10 min a well delivered through-ball from Paul Kindon was converted by Michael Burns. A brilliant finish with the right foot from 18 yards out. 15 min an inspired solo goal by Paul Kindon, scored from 18 yards out with the right foot. It was a brilliant effort... the move originally started with some good work from Steven Naisbett. 20 min A well-finished individual goal and a moment of inspiration! Good lead up play led to Steven Talbot going on a solo run, and scoring a right footed goal from close range yards. 25 min a genuine example of a team goal, with a number of players involved in the build up. A speculative goal was capped by Ryan Mason with a left footer from 18 yards out, with an assist by Darren Stanley. 50 min a ball from Paul Kindon led to a goalmouth scramble. Michael Burns made no mistake with a fine right footed finish from 18 yards out. 60 min Mark Liddle fired home from 18 yards out with a speculative right foot goal, following a through-ball from Paul Kindon. 75 min an inspired solo goal by Ryan Mason, scored from long range with the left foot. It was a mind-blowing effort... the move originally started with some good work from Darren Stanley. 80 min Graham Fullarton supplied the through-ball, and Paul Kindon found the net from just inside the box with a tremendous right footed effort. 85 min a well delivered through-ball from Steven Wilson was converted by Mark Liddle. A fine finish with the right foot from 18 yards out. 90 min Michael Burns fired home from 18 yards out with a well-finished right foot goal, following a through-ball from Ryan Mason. 90 min a well delivered through-ball from Mark Liddle was converted by Paul Kindon. A great finish with the right foot from 18 yards out. To Give the Victoria a 12-0 Home win. East Rainton were 6-3 Home winners over Ferryhill Dynamoes.Shadforth Plough were 4-3 winners at Hetton Social.Bowburn Cooperage were 8-3 winners at Houghton Chilton Lodge. Sedgefield Net Park entertained Hamsteels Inn After a fairly wet weekend it was conceivable that the game could be off with a waterlogged pitch but the wind must of helped the drainage as the pitch was in very good condition. The game got underway and the opening 5 minutes were fairly scrappy and close but Net Park started to get hold of the game with Joe Burke and Kev Broom really commanding the midfield for the Home side. Stephen Turland broke down the left hand side he turned the Hamsteels defender inside out before calmly slotting his finish round the Hamsteels keeper into the bottom corner of the net as his goal scoring form continues to impress. As Net Park settled into their stride they created more chances at goal the ball was played into the box by Kev Broom, Mally Dickenson latched onto it to finish well making it 2-0 to Net Park . Net Park continued to carve out opportunities in the first half, Hamsteels started to get back into the Game towards half time but against the run of play Net Park added a Third Kevin Broom fired home just before half time. Net Park managed to get a fourth as Joe Burke broke into the box and latched onto a pass/shot/tackle from Baggy finishing well to grab his second goal for the club in successive fixtures. Chris Barber added a further goal for Net Park to make it 5-0. Hamsteels grabbed themselves a goal as Net park surrendered possession and their Forward finished sublimely lobbing the Net park Keeper from 30 yards. Net Park continued to push for more goals and when Baggy broke into the box he was brought down as the ref pointed to the spot we were given the opportunity to extend the lead further. Peter Sedgewick  stepped up and saw his penalty saved By the Hamsteels Keeper . Net parks made it 7-1 Chris Barber forced his way onto it to slot it into the corner of the net for his second.

In the Leagues Fourth Division Chester Easy Travelled to the Fourth Division league leaders Neville Cross at Framwellgate Moor following Cup Ties it was there first league game for five weeks, Easy showed that they are very much concentrated on winning the Fourth Division as they smashed five past Neville’s Cross with Anthony Davison and Craig Mickle amongst the scorers again. The first half was a very scrappy affair with both teams struggling to find any sort of attacking momentum. Neville’s Cross did have the first chances of the game with lapses in concentration from the Easy Street defence allowing the Neville’s Cross forwards to get in one-on-one with James Davidson twice in succession but the Easy Street keeper pulled off two class saves to keep his team in the game. Towards the end of the half Easy threatened the Neville’s Cross goal with Davison's lobbed effort saved by the keeper and Glen Taylor’s goal bound effort cleared off the line. Half time couldn't come soon enough for Easy Street; they were soon in front in the second half with Craig Evans scoring his second of the season with a scrappy effort. Glen Taylor then doubled the lead with an identical effort from the first half but the cultured midfielder didn't make the same mistake twice, finding the net with an expert finish. Craig Mickle then turned on the style going past two players and unselfishly pulling the ball across for Anthony Davison to tap in. It was four almost straight from the start as David Hope smashed an unstoppable strike into the net from 25 yards for his second goal in successive games. Craig Mickle added Easy Streets Fifth on Full Time. To Give Easy Street a 5-0 win. High Handenhold Bird Inn were 3-2 winners at Langley Park Rams Head and Ferryhill White Horse were 2-0 winners at Washington Ox and Plough Inn.

In the Bishop Auckland Heart Foundation Trophy Sedgefield st Edmunds were 8-0 Home winners over Elm Road Social, In an all League Clash Premier Side Burnmoor Cricket Club entertained second Division Coxhoe Wmc.Coxhoe started the game a lot brighter than Burnmoor  and went a goal up on 15 mins after a mistake from James Pounder let in the there forward to finish, coxhoe than scored again but it was ruled offside, which gave Burnmoor  a wake up call, they  then realised they had a game on their hands,Burnmoor levelled the scores equalised on 35 min - An inspired solo goal by Tim bowman, scored from long range with the left foot. It was a first-class effort... the move originally started with some good work from Paul Taylor,2nd half was much better from Burnmoor playing better football, Luke charlsworth put us ahead on 50mins when he scored direct from a corner, but Cox hoe again pulled level on 58 mins after another defensive mistake to let in there winger who finished well, Cox hoe were dangerous on the counter attack, after a corner from the right, there was some mix up in the Cox hoe box and Luke charlaswoth took advantage with a good finish from 12 yards, Paul Taylor then made the game safe on 80 mins with a good finish after being put through from Timmy bowman. This result puts Burnmoor into the 1/4 finals of the heart foundations cup for 2nd season in a row.

Hetton Despatch the Canadians

By Groundhopper

Hetton Lyons Cricket Club Entertained Canada from the Liverpool Sunday Football League In the FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup 2nd Round at The Brewery Field in Spennymoor .The game itself almost had a late kick-off as the visitors arrived late due to Traffic, but despite the Canada Officials asking to delay the Kick Off, the Three Match officials didn’t bow to pressure and the match kicked off on time.

Hetton Named the Following Side team; Finch, Ryan, Mason, Dodd’s, Dixon , Capper(Toft), Ruddy, GrayDon(Ainsley), Byrne, Lawther(Cogdon), Waite    subs not used Bishop(gk), Roulston,

Hetton Lyons Cricket Club dominated from start to finish but it took a while for them to find the back of the net, first real chance of a goal came after 25 minutes when a shot from 18 yards and Steve Capper hitting the post, 5 minutes later with some good work from Craig Ruddy and Warren Byrne who squared the ball to Keith Graydon but his shot was well wide of the goal, shortly after that Chris Lawther saw his shot from some distance go wide of the goal. In the 43rd minute Keith Graydon hit the ball wide to Steve Capper who sprinted up the left wing and crossed the ball for Chris Lawther to put the ball wide of the Canada keeper and into the back of the net.   The halftime 1-0. to Hetton.

The second half started and the Lyons were much quicker and better passing and in the 48th minute a cross from Craig Ruddy and a header from Warren Byrne beat the keeper 2-0. In the 53rd minute Byrne collected the ball beat the defender and saw his shot saved from the goalkeeper and Chris Lawther scored from the rebound to make it the 3-0. Chris Lawther got his hat-trick on the hour mark with some great work from Ruddy and Graydon to lay the ball off to Lawther to put it past the visiting keeper 4-0. Lawthers fourth goal after 72nd minute was the pick of the bunch, substitute Jason Ainsley's sublime pass to Chris Lawther who turned and hit it and the goalkeeper had no chance 5-0, with 5 minutes left on the clock substitute Gavin Cogdon beat 3 defenders and was then up ended by the keeper and from the penalty kick Cogdon sent the goalkeeper the wrong way. Full time  6-0.to Hetton Lyons

A good solid performance from the Lyons with the defence of Mason, Dixon and captain Leon Ryan containing the Canada attack and keeper Keith Finch having the occasional save to make Hetton were too strong for the Liverpool side.

The Lyons have been handed an away tie in the third round and no surprises They are off to Liverpool to either Poulton Royal or JOB FC, the third time we have played a Merseyside  based club this season, Poulton are a Wallasey side in the Wallasey and District Sunday League and JOB FC play in the Liverpool Business Houses League.

In the Alan Smith Memorial Trophy 3rd Round Sponsored by Castle Insurance Pelton Roab produced their best performance of the Season as they entertained last Seasons Premier League Champions Kelloe Wmc the Referee handled the game very well and deserves a mention. In a Very Tight Game Kelloe Wmc Took the Lead on 16 Mins , Pelton Continued to battle on and there patience paid of in the 58 min Ryan Drummand latched on to a Through ball from Michael Graver and Drummand Lobbed the Kelloe Keeper. On67 min the
Referee blew for a foul in the box, and Michael Graver slotted home the Free Kick with a fine left footed finish. Pelton sealed the Game in the 75 min - Ryan Drummand scored His second of the Game to Give Pelton a 3-1 Home win. Newton Aycliffe wmc also progressed to next round winning 5-2 at Home to Chester Osborne Wmc

In the JD Taxis Trophy Lumley Crashed to a 3-1 away Defeat to Fourth Division Club Framwellgate Moor Wmc .Sedgefield Black Lion were 5-2 Home winners Over Shadforth Plough Inn. East Rainton Travellers Rest entertained   Sedgefield NETPark Sedgefield Net Park a much depleated squad due To Injuries the squad comprising mainly of defenders the lads arrived at Rainton for what would be one of their hardest games of the season so far. A much changed East Rainton side warmed up for a full 30mins before the game and looked a far more organised outfit than in previous seasons. Netpark won toss and immediately took control with particularly good link up play down the right hand side involving Burke, Dickenson, Bagshaw and Turland. Several excellent chances went begging before Sedgefield were awarded a somewhat dubious penalty for what looked like an excellent tackle. Dickenson put the penalty away and soon after Joe Burke joined the season’s goals corers by slotting home the 2nd from a Sheppherdson pull back. Sedgefield continued to press forward much to the frustration of the EastRainton .

Then following a Great move from Sedgefield which involved virtually every player in the team passing and moving sweetly, Turland struck the post. Tommy Hotchkiss quickly got the ball forward and a low cross was hit into the Net park box, bizarrely and very unexpectedly the referee blew his whistle and pointed to the spot, claiming the ball had struck the arm of the Chris Lines. The penalty was dispatched and within minutes a more decisive East Rainton carved out another good chance. Rob Earnshaw was somehow out jumped and the on East Rainton centre forward rounded the Net park Keeper  and stroked the ball towards an empty net only to see it cleared by the a Net park Defender . The Second half saw East Rainton have the better of the play and missed a couple of really good chances. Then enter the battle of the Goalkeepers as Tommy Hotchkiss the East Raintom Keeper made a fabulous save from Joe Burke’s header. Not to be undone though Darren Bill made 3 or 4 wonderful saves one of them I can’t believe he saved it a firm shot from close range looked to be flying in but Billy flung himself and somehow tipped it over the bar. It was a fairly close affair but minutes from the end Mally Dickenson latched onto a cross which fell to the edge of the box and he thrashed a half volley low beating the keeper as the defender tried to clear could only help it on into the roof of the net. Net Park held out for the remaining 5 minutes with the Final score East Rainton  2-3 Net Park this Puts Net Park into the quarter finals of the cup.

In the First Round of the Deerness Driveways Trophy Chester Easy Street chalked up another cup win as they demolished visitors and fellow Fourth division side Quarrington Hill.wmc 7-2 with several key players missing due to other commitments, Easy Street only had 12 fit players available.

Easy Street started off in abysmal fashion and were lucky they weren't playing a stronger team otherwise they would have been behind early on. They did however take an undeserved lead when Anthony Davison’s back heel found Steven Marriott and his sliced shot beat the keeper via the post.

It was Marriott’s first competitive goal for over 6 years and it was only start for Easy Street.

They doubled their lead soon after when another fancy back heel from Davison released Craig Mickle who coolly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. Quarry Hill provided an immediate response with the number 9 slipping past David Cowan and curling a left foot effort towards the Easy Street goal. Fortunately keeper James Davidson was on hand to tip the ball wide at full stretch.

With Quarry Hill getting back into the game, Easy Street went in search of the game killing goal and it was David Hope who put them 3-0. Some great play by top scorer Mickle, saw him beat two players and slip the ball into Hope who then smashed the ball past the goalkeeper from the angle.

It was 4-0 soon after with Mickles stinging left footed free kick, too hot to handle, with the keeper palming the ball in the path of Mark Peck who bundled the ball over the line. Davison then got himself on the score sheet as Cowan’s ball allowed the winger plenty of time to bear down on goal and measure his finish to make it 5-0 before half time. Half time came and Easy Street were firmly on top but not playing to their usual standard and definitely needed to get out of second gear.

Chris Cairns was replaced by Stephen Wood with Mark Peck moving to left back and it was Peck who swung the ball into the box for Davison who bundled home his second and Easy Streets 6th of the match. But some defensive blunders allowed Quarry Hill to regain some pride as they got a goal back. A ball in from the right was misjudged by Marriott who let the ball run under his feet and the Quarry Hill number 9 tapped in. But Easy Street did manage to make it seven with 15 minutes to go. Corletts run up the right saw him receive the ball from Glen Taylor and his pull back created space for Mickle to turn the defender and curl an unstoppable shot into the bottom left corner for his second goal.

But it was Quarry Hill who had the last laugh on proceedings as they struck their second with a few minutes left on the clock. Poor play by Cowan allowed the Quarry Hill number 9 to float a cross in towards the advancing number 12 and he headed the ball into an empty net. In the same Competition Chilton Wmc were 6-4 winners at Sherburn Lambton Arms.

In the Premier Division Sacriston Cricket Club Suffered Their first league defeat since the 23rd August and although it is bitterly disappointing to lose we were not disgraced by any means and at times we played well again in this game as they entertained Brandon Bay Horse at Sacriston. The Cricketers started the game well and in the first 5 minutes caused the Brandon defence problems but goal chances were few and far between. In the 5 mins the Bay Horse scored with there first attack when Barry Johnson lost John Robson from a throw in and put a wicked cross into the box where Michael Fort headed home giving Hall the Home Keeper no chance. The Cricketers continued to pressured the ball all game and although Brandon did have other chances in the half the best of which when Hall tipped a shot onto the post, the Cricketers had their fare share of the Game, But they just couldn't get the goal wasting numerous good positions in and around the box and making the wrong choice in the final third where it matters. At times we had Brandon hemmed in their own half but the difference between the 2 teams were the two Bay Horse forwards,  Barry Johnson and  Dave Fort both caused the Cricketers Defence  problems all day long .. Johnson and Fort were able to hang onto the ball and create problems for the Cricketers Defence.  The killer 2nd goal for the Bay Horse came from a corner when Andy Robson headed home at the near post on 52 mins rising above the Cricketers defenders. However the Cricketers were still kept searching for a way to get back into the game and we won countless free kicks in the game none of which we really made the most of but Graeme Embleton did manage to hit the cross bar from one on the hour mark and they had one other glorious chance to score when Fenton had a free header from a Graeme Embleton free kick at the back post only to miss the target with a tame header. To make the Final Score Sacriston Cricket Club 0 Brandon Bay Horse 2.Langley Park Wmc and Visitors Burnside Wmc Shared the Points in a 3-3 Draw. Houghton Glendale were 2-1 Home winners Over Ferryhill Wmc.

In the First Division  Washington  JFC entertained Sacriston wmc, Sacriston  took the lead after Jfc had missed several good chances, The  right winger received the ball from a throw in and went around the full back and chipped the keeper from an acute angle, a cracking goal. JFC made it 1-1 from the penalty spot after a forward was brought down just as he was about to pull the trigger from 6 yds, Keith Vincent tucked the ball into the corner, game on, JFC went 2-1 up when a lovely through ball good enough to split the Sacriston Defence found Craig Rousell he slid the ball under the approaching keeper. Sacriston seemed to loose heart after this and the home team scored 3 more through John Middlemiss, Peter Taylor and a second for Rousell sealed the result. Chester Hilda Park Travelled to Washington Biddick Inn  Both asides Looking for Promotion , the Hilda Park Bandwagon again came of the Rails Callum Turnbull getting their Only Goal as they Crashed to a 5-1 defeat. The Local Derby at Esh Winning between the Cricket Club and Water houses was called off Due to a Waterlogged Pitch.
In the Second Division Chester Plough Inn found themselves on their travels, this time Coxhoe WMC providing the opposition in a league encounter. The Plough Inn will need directions to our home ground as this was our 7th away game in a row. Chester Plough started very brightly and managed to grab the lead as early as the 3rd minute when Daniel Hill broke down the right flank and drove a superb ball across the 6 yard box for BEN LLOYD to bundle the ball past the keeper. The Plough were hoping to build on the lead but unfortunately it was Coxhoe who came back the stronger of the two teams. The lead only lasted 5 minutes, when goalkeeper John Witherspoon made a brilliant save only to watch the away defenders clear the ball as far as the edge of the area straight to the Coxhoe forward who lobbed the ball straight over the Keepers head from 20 yards. Coxhoe’s confidence was now growing and continued to push The Plough back in their own half and got their rewards in the 15th minute. The Plough defence were caught napping when half of the players pushed out and the other half stayed in playing the Coxhoe striker onside who squared the ball across the six yard area for their Michael Owen to finish comfortably. Coxhoe were now well in control and for the next twenty minutes had all the possession and created several good opportunities to increase their lead but thankfully didn’t take them. The Plough did have a spell in the last 5 minutes of the half and could easily have grabbed an equaliser, with Ben Lloyd forcing the keeper into a great save and Joel Baddams seeing his shot hit the post. Half Time 2-1 to CoxhoeThe Second Half the Plough driven on by inspirational skipper Lee McGuiness were now starting grow in confidence and belief. They grabbed a deserved equaliser in the 55th minute and it came from an unlikely source. John Forster took the corner, and LEE McGuiness headed the ball goal bound only to see his effort blocked, however he was the first to react as it hit the ground and smashed the ball into the net from a good 7 yards out! The Plough had the bit between the teeth now and managed to take the lead only 5 minutes later when DANIEL HILL capitalised on some sloppy defending. The Coxhoe centre half misplaced his clearance that fell straight to Daniel Hill who took a couple of touches before firing past the stranded keeper from 25 yards out. After the goal, it was backs against the wall time for the Plough as Coxhoe pressed in search of an equaliser and created some golden opportunities only to find goalkeeper Jon Witherspoon in sparkling form. The Plough defence stayed strong and put in some brilliant blocks to keep the lead. The Plough were now trying to see the game out but actually put the game beyond doubt in the 86th minute. Coxhoe had gone with 3 at the back and found themselves stretched when Wilcock brought the ball out of defence and passed to John Forster who hit a super ball down the line for livewire Hill to skip past his man before squaring to KEITH LINES who made no mistake from 6 yards out. The Final Score Coxhoe wmc 2 -4 Chester Plough Inn . Pelton Fc‘s Home game against Durham Bede Lodge was cancelled due to a Waterlogged Pitch.Ushaw Moor Cricket Club were 4-1 Home winners Over Pittington Fc.

Washington Lambton Village were Due to Play Bishop Middleham Cross Keys at Washington however, with Lambton pitch still under water and Bishops pitch in good condition it was agreed to switch the match to Bishops home game.  On 20 min - Luke Cresdee the Lambton Forward supplied the cross, and Warren Leadbeater found the net from outside the area with a spectacular left footed effort.  On 35 min – Lambton Village went Further Ahead when a direct free-kick was given outside the area. Warren Leadbeater ran up and fired home a brilliant left footed shot past the opposition keeper. The Cross Keys replied with Two Goals to make it 2-2 But Just before Half time Lambton Forward Neil Hughes fired home from 18 yards out with a tremendous headed goal, following a cross from Andrew Bell. The Lambton added a Further Goal in the 65 min – when the Lambton were awarded a Penalty. Some good work from Luke Cresdee led to an offence in the box, and with a superb left footed shot Warren Leadbeater hit the mark. The Cross keys Came back into the Game adding two further Goals to make the score 4-4 Then The Lambton went Further ahead In the 75 min ,An inspired solo goal by Les Coombs, scored from 18 yards out with the right foot. It was a first-class effort... the move originally started with some good work from Dan Thompson, they added a Further Goal in the 80 min with Luke Cresdee supplying the through-ball, and Christopher Slater found the net from just inside the box with a speculative right footed effort. To Give the Lambton a Fine 6-4 win

Mickle On the Ball Again

By Groundhopper.

In the Durham County Football Association Sunday Cup In form Side Chester Easystreet Travelled to Teeside to Play Stockton Sunday League Side Billingham Telstar. Easy Street made it to the last 32 of the County Cup with a 2-0 win over Stockton Premier League side Billingham Telstar. It was a dreadful first half from EasyStreet as they struggled to impose themselves on the game and were lucky not to be behind but the Telstar finishing was lacking in any real quality. Easy Street did however have some chances with Craig Mickle and Anthony Davison putting a few wide of the posts but never really testing the Telstar keeper. Mark Peck had the best chance of the first half when his shot was blocked by a Telstar defender and with the goal gaping his second shot was miraculously saved by the goalkeeper. Some half time words from Easystreet manager Michael Dalkin seemed to invigorate the players and they upped the tempo of the game and started to gather momentum. With most of the play coming down the left Davison gave the Telstar right back a torrid time with his pace and close control.

His partner, Mickle should have put Easy Street ahead early in the second half but, after beating three players, his shot is saved by the keeper and as the ball fell at his feet again his goal bound shot was pounced upon by the keeper again who remarkably managed to turn it over the bar. The goal for Easystreet did come with about 20 minutes to go. Good work again by Davison down the left saw him beat three players and square to Mickle who lifted his shot beyond the keeper and into the net. Telstar piled on the pressure from then on as they went in search of the equaliser that would take it to extra-time. Their best effort fell to their number 8 Jones. His fine 20 yard strike brought the best out of James Davidson who got a strong arm to the ball to tip it over. With Telstar piling forward, they were susceptible on the break and Mickle managed to exploit the large gaps in defence as he repaid the assist from Davision earlier as he slipped the ball into him on the left and the winger composed himself before sweeping a low shot into the far right corner of the net. This Put Easy Street Into the last 32 Of the Compeition.Pelton Roab Entertained Sunderland Sunday League Side Sunderland Myers. Pelton Took the Lead on 41 min Ross Robson supplied the cross, and Luke Kerry found the net from six yards out with a well-finished right footed effort, hen three Minutes Later Luke Kerry fired home from 18 yards out with a well-finished right foot goal, following a cross from Neil Johnson. This Gave Pelton a Comfortable Lead, But with 10 Mins Remaining Sunderland Myers Had a Free Kick that Pelton did not defend ,this allowed the Sunderland Myers Forward Smith to head Home and Make the last 20 Mins Of the Game into a very Tight Match, Pelton  winning 2-1.Kelloe Wmc Travelled to play Hartlepool Hillcarter from the Hartlepool Sunday Football League, Kelloe Wmc winning 2-0.Burnside Wmc Crashed to a 3-0 Home defeat from Visitors Dawdon Cw.Sedgefield St Edmunds Moved into the last 32 with a Fine 6-3 Home win over Coundon Forrester’s Arms. After twenty minutes Gilesgate's Robert Cooper curled a delightful free kick from twenty five yards out into the top corner of the net for 1-0. Just before the interval Mill's Alistair Dodds upended Paul West for a Gilesgate penalty kick. Mill keeper Dan Pearson dived to his right to save the kick from Chris Cummings. Ten minutes into the second half Gilegate keeper James Winter pulled off a fantastic save to deny a superb Gary Adey volley. Mill then had a number of chances to get back into the game but all were wasted. In the dying moments of the game with Mill pushing for an equaliser, a slip from Mill's Andy Adey let in Mark Wild to score Gilesgate's second.Pelton Fc were 4-3 Home winners over Esh Winning Cricket Club.

In Bad Conditions New Durham Played Well And Scored Nine Goals at Home to Quarrington Hill Wmc, A Hatrick From Andrew Chester, 2 From Scott Jenkins,2 From Graeme Brenkley,And 1 From Stevie Bowes ,And 1 From Nicholas Marley.

Washington Colliery Travelle to Durham to Play the Garden House. After an impeccable minutes silence respected by both teams on Rememberance Sunday, the game got underway and the first half was played out in very wet Conditions . This was no excuse though as it was, as always, the same for both teams, and, after a series of off-side decisions against the Colliery, lead upto a frantic goalmouth scramble which saw Garden House take the lead just minutes before half-time, the ball was half-cleared only to be lumped back into the box, for their un-marked attacker to tap in at the back post Half Time 1-0 to the Garden House,In the second Half  in typical Colliery fashion they let yet another soft goal put us 2-0 behind. This finally sparked the Colliery into life. Soon after making a change which saw the Colliery Bring On Mickey Walker  to replace Craig Neal, who picked up a knock to his long standing leg injury,on  65 min the Colliery Pulled a Goal Back when Mark Wallis supplied the corner, and Andy Mcintire found the net from just inside the box with a right footed effort. Down Came the Rain

By Groundhopper

The Torrential Downpour of Rainon Sunday Put paid to a Lot Of Fixtures in the League , Waterlogged Pitches were the Order of the Day, The Games At Ferryhill Wmc , Fatfield Biddick Inn ,Washington  Jfc , Pittington  Fc, Hamsteels Inn  , Washington Usworth Top Club  ,Langley Park  Rams Head And Oxclose  Ox And Plough Were Off Due To Bad Weather. Games at Chester Osborne Wmc and Washington   Colliery were started but abandoned Due to Waterlogged Pitches as were .games at Houghton Glendale Social, Esh Winning Cricket Club and West Rainton , Credit must be given to the Clubs who did get their Games On.

In the Third Round Of the Alan Smith Memorial Trophy Chester Easy Street from the Leagues 4th Division entertained  Burnmoor Cricket Club from the Premier Division. With the rain lashing down and the condition of the pitch sure to get worse, Chester Easystreet kicked off the game against their Premier League opponents. It was Easy Street who definitely had the best of the first half but really did lack that killer touch in front of goal with Paul Corlett, Stephen Wood, Davison and Craig Mickle unable to beat the Burnmoor keeper with their efforts. A stroke of luck was needed for Easy street’s first goal as Craig Mickles shot took a wicked deflection off the Burnmoor defender and spun into the bottom right corner Just before Half time. With the conditions easing up Easy Street continued to build in the second half and doubled their lead not long after the restart. Woods cross from the left was pinpoint as Mark Peck stole in at the near post to poke the ball home. Anthony Davison then added a Further Goal for Easy Street by unleashing an unstoppable drive from the left, with the ball flying across the keeper and into the top right hand corner. With victory almost a certainty, Easy Street took their foot off the gas and allowed Burnmoor the chance to get back into the game. But their hopes were dashed when Paul  Corlett swivelled to lash the ball home with his right foot from the edge of the box.  To make it a Fine 4-0 home win for the 4th Division Outfit.

In the Same  Trophy 3rd Round premier division club Sedgefield St Edmunds travelled to first division Washington Arms and were made to work really hard to earn a 1-2 victory with the winner coming late in the period of extra time. In atrocious conditions both teams and referee Keith Hunter are to be congratulated on putting in a fine performance that epitomised all that is good about Sunday League football. The game started well for the Washington Arms who despite having the best of the play go into the half time break a goal down, a powerful Edward Johnson header doing the damage. Danny Murray guides a near post Craig Smith cross into the net to bring the Arms level on the sixty minute mark. In an intriguing battle with both teams searching for a winner in normal time chances are squandered at both ends, Sedgefield believe they have scored the winner from a corner on the stroke of full time however referee Hunter had blown for full time before the ball had been scrambled into the Arms goal. In extra time both teams work really hard to gain the advantage and just when it looks like the game is going into a penalty shoot out John Cooks grabs the all important winner for Sedgfield St Edmunds.

Ferryhill hit back 10 minutes later when their striker gained a fortuitous rebound from the advancing Potts to easily score and then went in front with a fierce drive from 22 yards following a long ball over the top of the Witton defence. That remained the score at half time but 10 minutes into the second half with Cleckner introduced at the back releasing Scott Embleton up front things started to change and Witton began to dominate the game. The equaliser quickly followed from Embleton with a neat finish from just inside the box and after 63 minutes they were in front with a near post header from the impressive Peter Maughan.Witton added a fourth to cement their superiority through Ian Renwick after good work from Sanderson and Embleton and Scott Embleton rounded off a good personal performance with his 2nd and Witton’s 5th to seal an impressive win. A great 7-2 win for Leonard’s on what was very bad playing conditions away at Framwellgate Moor Wmc. On 5 min Josh Fryer supplied the cross, and Will Newell found the net from six yards out with a clinical left footed effort. Half time 1-1 In the second Half Leonard’s went further ahead in the 50 min Joey Nichol supplied the pass, and Andrew Clarkson found the net from outside the area with a truly memorable right footed effort.
