Brandon United Sunday Possible Merger.
Brandon United Sunday have really struggled this season in regards to fielding a team. Several lads have left due to work and more are on there way. They have also been told by Brandon that we might not be able to use the pitch next season (which may be a blessing as it is absolutely terrible) but this has not been confirmed. What they are asking you is, do you know of any other teams struggling for players and we could possible merge? If not i think we may have to drop out of the league which is the last thing 7 or 8 of us want. Any help would be a bonus as i know we have to have next seasons forms into you next week.

League News - Sunday 28th Mar 2009

In the Premier Division Kelloe WMC
FC entertained Houghton Glendale in their 2nd
home league game of the season. The
visitors started the brighter and scored 2 quick
goals from 2 defensive errors after only 10
minutes. It took Kelloe another 20 minutes to
recover from being behind and scored just before the
break, as Gavin Barton finished from outside the
box with a first time effort. After the break
Kelloe dominated the game and drew level when Stuart
Thompson dribbled past 2 defenders and crossed for
Gavin Barton to head home from 10 yards out. An
injury to Glendale keeper Nick Lawson tipped the
balance in Kelloe's favour as from a uncleared
corner, striker Nick Gibson scrambled home from close
range. Kelloe then extended their lead with a
swift counter attack, Stuart Thompson again dribbling
through to put Neil Charlton clear who chipped over
the Glendale keeper to make the final score 4 - 2 to
Kelloe WMC FC.
Sedgefield St Edmunds entertained Burnside WMC another 2 goals for 18yr old Andrew Beamson who now has 22 goals this season. He opened the scoring with an overhead kick, and Chris Gillespie made it 2-0. Burnside got a goal back right on half time and equalised early in the second half, but Beamsons second goal clinched a 3-2 win for Sedgefield .Ferryhill Wmc were 3-2 winners over vistors Pelton Roab. Langley Park Wmc and VisistorsNewton Aycliffe wmc shared the Points in a 4-4 Draw.
In the First Division Lumley FC travelled to Brandon Sports & made it 6 games without defeat with a fine 3-0 victory. Lumley's Richard Ward broke the dead lock just before half time. In the 2nd half Lumley added their 2nd again though Ward, who was later, carried off. His replacement Cawson soon raced clear of the Brandon defence and when he squared Craig Elliott smashed the ball into an empty net, giving Lumley a comprehensive 3-0 victory.Burnmoor Cricket Club were 3-2 Home winners against Chilton Wmc.Waterhouses Crashed to a 7-0 away defeat at Sacriston Cricket Club.
Washington JFC entertained visitors Pelton FC in a Second Division league match, the match was very close with a 0-0 score line at halftime, the visitors out shining the home team in the first half however Pelton goalkeeper pulled off two fantastic saves from Clarke and Vincent. The second half started with Washington Jfc starting to take control of the game in the centre of the park, Pelton Keeper made another great save from Middlemiss, Peltons centre forward Yippie just missed with a great header for the visitors, soon after that Clarke put the home team ahead when he chipped the ball over the centre half’s head and volleyed into the net, this was followed by a fortunate 2nd goal for Washington JFC when Middlemiss miss-truck a shot and the keeper let it go under his body, a very close game with the home team relived to have won. Chester Plough Inn were 1-0 winners at Brandon United,Hilda Park and visitors Durham Bede Lodge shared the Points in a 1-1 draw
In the Third Divison You might of thought that this was a cup final listening to the reactions throughout the game of the Washington Nissan manager and the Nissan players as they travelled to play Pelaw Grange Dogs.. Pelaws forwards Russell Fowler, Chris Hawkins and Kevin Turnes feeling the brunt of some heavy tackling and thus Nissan paid the price in the 20th minute when Kevin Turnes scored from a free kick, after Chris Hawkins had been brought down just on the corner of the penalty box Kevin beat the wall to slot a well placed ball into the corner of the goal to give Pelaw the lead. The game was closely balanced but a good move passed the Pelaws left back Phil Hawkins saw Craig Eccleston of Nissan put the ball passed Pelaw's keeper Scott Patterson. the score remained at 1-1 at half time and well into the second half with both Pelaw and Nissan having chances to go in front. Nissan would of but a great save from Scott Patterson then saw Pelaw attack the other end without avail. Pelaw thought they had a won penalty when referee Bill Grimes played the advantage when Chris Hawkins was first fouled then went into the box and looked as if he was going for goal when he was brought down but the whistle was for a free kick for the original foul.It was a free kick late into the game though that decided the match with Neil O'Neill getting the winner after squeezing past Peal's central defenders.
Washington Duke of Albany hosted Witton Gilbert Glendenning Arms in this Fourth Division clash. The visitors turned up with only 9 men and as a consequence the game was a one sided affair with the home team having a two man advantage. They eventually ran out 15 - 0 winners, the goals coming from Andrew Cameron (3), Jamie Sheriff (3), Mark Liddle (2), Colin Cowen (2), Ryan Mason (2), Steven Douglas, Craig Cruickshank and an O.G.
Sedgefield St Edmunds entertained Burnside WMC another 2 goals for 18yr old Andrew Beamson who now has 22 goals this season.
